Love the hiring so glad we can actually see an offense. If thibs doesn't get a head coaching job do yall think he considers coming here as an assistant.

From what I've read (even before the announcement), the bulk of the collective wisdom among the NBA seems to think the hire was a good one for this term. After Hoiberg, Gentry is who Chicago wanted. Clearly, he has some respect among the league.

That's one more than Gentry. He also has more winning seasons and a better record.

It basically boiled down to deciding on an offensive or defensive minded coach. I watched every game last season except for maybe 5-6 and we lost most of our games not because of our lack of defense but because our offense would bog down and we'd go on long scoreless stretches. There was no creativity on offense. The same high pick and roll with 8 seconds on the shot clock was done literally hundreds of times. It was nauseating at times.

If Gentry is viewed as an offensive minded coach then I'm in. I think the Pels can hold their own on defense.

Has Gentry had a player like Davis in his prime? I know he coached Nash but I honestly don't know what other superstars he had on his rosters. I'm guessing he had none during his Clips tenure.

Not even close. That's one thing that will make this interesting.

I wasn't talking to you and never said they were. My post was an entirely accurate and direct response to a comment that he posted.

That said, Nash won an MVP.

Nash and Amare were pretty goddamn amazing at the time. Nash won freaking MVPs.

Gentry lucked into an absolutely stacked roster that he took to a WCF and then gets fired.

Nash and Amare had their best years under D'Antoni. Gentry had 1 year of Amare and Nash's best years were behind him (granted he was still great)

Best player Gentry ever had was prime Grant Hill in Detroit on a shitty team.

lol

Nash was 35 in Gentry's first full season.

Amare was gone to New York after Gentry's first full season. He played one year for Gentry

We'll talk about how childish it is in a couple years.
