Staff is going to be extremely important here.

If Gentry can make some smart hires on the defensive, player development, and "big man" sides, this could be a good situation.

I was never particularly thrilled with Monty's staff.

This will matter more(IMO) than the HC position itself.

Monty to Gentry should be a solid jump but the jump from Hanners/Ayers to someone like Shaw/Malone and slew of former players/coaches he's worked with around the league could be astronomical.

But the condescending tone over those who aren't happy is extremely perplexing considering those people actually have an argument and facts for a change.
the condescending tone is a result of the massive influx of retards this news has brought to the board. it's fine to be critical of the hire and not like it but a lot of posters came out the woodwork and started melting hard with shite like this franchise isn't serious about winning, AD is gone, Dell needs to be fired, etc.

I'm with the wait on the assistants and see crowd, love the idea of what our offense could become with him at the helm.

Though it does make me wonder if his numbers are skewed as to what his system actually produces because he had 3 of the best shooting guards in history running his offense his last 3 stops.

I'm also in the "wait and see" crowd. I think that the offense should be greatly improved, but I'm not convinced that Gentry can be a guy who comes in and changes the culture to elevate us to where we want to be. Hopefully, he can. Nothing in his history as a head coach says that though.

His choices for assistants will obviously be huge. Also, we have to see what roster moves are made. He has never been in a great situation, but he has also never brought anything to change that situation to a positve. I will be waiting to see how he manages a roster with a young superstar and how he attempts to get them to the next level.

I am all in. Why not he is our coach now. So I have 2 choices, support my team and wait and see

or go full retard and freak out before the guy coaches one game.

I will go with choice 1. Looking forward to seeing our team in a wide open offense.

I know his win-lose resume is not all that great. but now he has AD

We will be top 5 in offense next season. Let's hope we step it up on defense. I'm interested in the assistants but this is an upgrade.

I think Gentry's past stops don't tell the full story, no matter how you try to tell it. I think his success with the Warriors this year give a good indication of what kinda coach he is. This is the mind behind the offense of (statistically) one of the greatest teams ever. I am curious to see who he brings in as assistant coaches, but it can't be overlooked that he's an assistant on.. oh yeah the number 1 defense in the league.

Lead assistant that was the offensive master mind of a team that won the NBA championship and lead the league in offense and defensive rating.. I'll take that guy any day!

I'm optimistic about the Alvin Gentry hire, I believe with his experience and coaching style, the Pels will have a chance to go far! What the Pels need now is a dynamic PG to form the ultimate combo with AD. Holliday and Gordon are good, but not great. Man, if Chris Paul was still with this team... how awesome a combo that would be.

Steve Nash played for Alvin Gentry, I wonder if Gentry could talk him into coming out of retirement? If Nash has anything left in the tank, that would be awesome.

Nash can't even lift luggage without getting injured

Anyway, no great coach is unscathed. Any successful program has been built on the wisdom gained from falling.
