Crazy to think a franchise can lose #1 pick, Oden and franchise player, Roy (#6 pick) and just two years later be this good.
Why can't we have that?

We will be very good when Dell realizes the importance of having a real nba sf on the roster.

Paul Allen is worth over 10x what Benson is worth, so we're going to have to have an amazing GM/coach combo.

Well, they still have a No. 2 (LA) and a No. 6 (Lilliard) pick on their roster.

Well, one is obviously not on the same level as the others - and he happens to be the highest paid player of the four.
The point I was trying to convey was that it's not like Portland is short on top of the draft talent - obviously the Pels aren't either with Tyreke, EG and AD.

Damn, I forgot about Reke.
So we have a 1, 4, 7, 8, 10
The thing to take away from this is that Portland has a damn good scout team, while the Pelicans scout team has been rendered non-existent because we keep trading away our picks and even trading for a couple top 10 picks that have not panned out.

Does Aminu really count?
Drafted ahead of Paul George. Good call, Dunleavy.

They know how to build through the draft and keep their core intact.
Also they make smart FA signings, both $$$ wise and on the court wise. Mo Williams is a great player off the bench. Robin Lopez has given them a good post presence on both sides of the court. And that allows Aldridge to play 15ft from the basket where hes most comfortable at.
Biggest difference though.... Portland is a great bball city and they support the hell out of their team. Once you get the city on your side, like Portland is, the club starts going after players and getting them there. And then they start winning and develop a winning attitude.

Davis is better than every player on their team. So point 1 for the pelicans

How many points do the Blazers get for being the better team?

Have people really forgotten how bad Portland has been for a long time. Why do you think they had all those high draft choices.

You peope are sad! Injuries have done the Pelicans in.

Well, that and not having a quality 3 or 5 - some may also say coach.

Well, I think they have the tools in place for 3 and 5. Ajinca can be an effective center in this league he just needs to put weight on that skinny body, but the guy can play. Also, Monty needs to play Ryan Anderson at 3 instead of Aminu who dosen't have it. To inconsistent, but of course Ryan is hurt and may not be back. But his shot from outside would definitely free up Davis down low. Ryan was a big part of who the Pels are. It's hard to gain consistency when someone is always going down and that has been the story for the Pels.
also, Brooks has made the Blazers go this season. Him finally giving them a low post presence has allowed Aldridge to become dominant at PF.

Let's see how good they are when Lillard misses the vast majority of the season and Aldridge misses time. And then Wesley Matthews sprains his ankle a number of times and misses games. And then Rolo el cuñado misses a couple months or so, which pushes Joel Freeland into the starting lineup, but then he gets hurt and is sidelined indefinitely. Also, Batum is lost for what appears to be the season with a stress fracture that came out of nowhere.

1) Ajinca is like 26-years-old, bro. To expect him to add 'good weight' at this point in his career is foolish.
2) Anderson is a 4, he ain't a 3.
