Whats the obsession with starting him when he's playing the best basketball of his life in the role he's in now?

He plays starter minutes and finishes games. Don't screw with whatever's working for him.

Not sure about starting, but he should play 36 a night.

considering jrue has averaged 22 mpg as a starter this year vs 27 mpg coming off the bench, id say you're on to something

this is one of the lineup moves gentry has gotten right. jrue and team has been better in his current role

extra shots were there tonight with minimal AD and evans. dont want him shooting 20+ times

He might. Looks like Tyreke is on a short leash.

I think the most underrated thing about tonight is the fact that Douglas had the hot hand AND played 25 minutes. Last year, I think he had the hot hand and was benched for someone else more often than not.

He created spacing that wasn't there with Tyreke and Cole.

I don't care if he starts or comes off the bench, but I have a few things that bug me.

1) if the team sucks out of the gate (tonight), get him out there immediately.
2) unless he is in foul trouble or is playing very poorly, there is no justifiable reason he should be playing less than 32 minutes a night.
3) he needs extended minutes in the fourth, none of this "get Jrue in the game with 4 minutes or less left." He needs to be at the scorers table to where he can check in with six or more minutes left.

The difference is the amount of minutes. Last night Jrue played 23 minutes compared to Cole's 30 minutes and Dejean-Jones' 35 minutes. There is absolutely no reason Dejean Jones should play 12 more minutes than Holiday. That's a huge problem. Jrue was clearly our best guard last night, and has been consistently our best guard for the last couple weeks.

People continue to say he is playing his best ball coming off the bench. Yes, he is playing his best ball in a long time, but I don't buy the argument that he is doing so just because he is coming off the bench. It's much more likely because he continues to get more healthy as the season goes on and more comfortable in a new system.

I do not have a problem with him coming off the bench in the beginning of the game, Manu does for the Spurs. But once he gets in the game keep playing him.

Cole would get to start and come in when Jrue needs a break

Jrue should come in about halfway in the 1st unless Cole is lighting it up or passing really well. If not get him out of there.

I really like Gee and hopefully the new kid is a good as he is playing right now. He can take Cole's spot

I mean even the announcers talk about please bring in the best guard so he can pass to AD Cole does not find AD.

He can play 30 MPG off the bench, easily. That's either a Gentry screw up or they are being careful with his minutes due to his injuries. I doubt the team will tell us either way.

I think it's a good bit of both. There is statistical evidence that his eFG% is +5 v "bench units" than "starters." Same time, getting healthy, shaking off rust, and becoming more comfortable in a new system are all good reasons why he's been better recently.

If coming off the bench helps Jrue between the ears, then leave him there.

I'm sold on Jrue. Is he healthy? If so, he needs to be playing 34-36 minutes a night like most other lead guards. Point about BDJ/Cole is a definitely noted.
