PelicansBay gets the credit for finding this and posting it in another thread. I feel it deserves its own thread.

Would Kevin Knox be a player New Orleans asks about?

Some people in the Pelicans organization were quietly gathering some intel on Knox recently, sources told SNY. Now, it's common for teams to gather information on players. That's part of the job of the front office/scouting department. But the uncertainty surrounding Davis' future in New Orleans makes their information-gathering on Knox (which was happening before Griffin took over) intriguing.

Knox, 19, averaged 12.8 points on 37 percent shooting as a rookie, but his shooting improved over the final six weeks of the season.

We'll find out more about the potential strength of a Knicks offer for Davis on Tuesday night after the NBA Draft Lottery. If the Knicks win the lottery, they'd be able to put together a package that's, arguably, second only to what the Boston Celtics could offer the Pelicans.

knicks winning #2

That is the most ideal scenario ever.

The better be doing due diligence on every player who could potentially be moved in an AD trade, which is about 90% of the rosters of Boston, the Knicks, and the Clip Show.

I would not be surprised to see a team like the Raptors make a run at it.

I would think any Raptor deal is centered on Siakam and OG Anunoby with someone like Marc Gasol as trade ballast.

They have some good players but they don’t have picks and they are over the cap, meaning they can’t take back significantly more than they send out.

so I was reading through some comments on multiple boards.

There seems to be a consensus among fans that Knox was absolutely atrocious this year. I did not know that.

Knicks fans are practically putting up money to buy a plane ticket for him to come to NOLA, but are balking at sending Mitch Robinson.

I mean knicks fans and fans of other teams are absolutely trashing him. I was under the impression that he was pretty good, but they are pretty adamant that he was trash.

In the same breath they think they can get AD without giving up Zion or Mitch Robinson

AD without giving up Zion? How fricking delusional are they?

They think we told Magic to frick off so we could do a fricking fire sale this offseason?

thats because he was atrocious...its a dead heat between knox and jackson in PHX for last place. but he's 19 and the knicks suck

very analogous to two players we know well. as well all know rivers had the worst rookie year in the history of rookie years. he's no world beater now, but he is a rotation player and sometimes even helps. the other guy (hield) is one of the best 3 pt shooters in the game, who couldnt make a layup before we sent him off

And I heard all of this buzz coming out of NYK about Knox, but I don't watch any Knicks games so I don't really pay attention.

I was pretty surprised to hear a consensus that he was among the worst starters in the league last year.

The only thing good about him is his age. Terrible defender, low effort level, inconsistent on offense, which is supposed to be his strength. By the way, all of these things were true for him in college. But you definitely get him in a trade purely for his age and offensive potential.

Could the Pelicans have leaked this "scouting" given that Aldridge reported that AD would be open to staying in Boston even without Kyrie? Maybe the Pels are putting out info to assist in negotiations with the Celtics. May be laying a little groundwork now that Boston is out of the playoffs.

The Boston package sounds exactly like what Griffin was looking for as an analyst talking about the AD trade. Even though people have soured on Tatum a bit, what other trade besides a top 2 pick gives you back an equal or better player? Toronto depending on how you feel about Siakam?

So their future picks are actually really appealing to me if the rumors of Masai being interested in Washington are true. There is a universe where we take Pascal and OG, they get AD and lose Kawhi. They are in the East, but AD/Jrue>>>> AD/33 yr old Lowry for 2019-2020 and beyond is a complete unknown.

I like Atlanta if they get #2

Ja Morant and Bazemore come here along with a future pick

Prince and #9 go somewhere for the young veteran guy who Griffin said he wants. Hill goes to Atlanta too.

Don't go on lakers message boards either, they believe we will be lucky to get one of BI/Zo, Hart and two future first round picks, not even the one this year lol. And if it's more than that, they will be happy to wait till 2020 when they can get AD for free
