Well when BI and Zion get hurt and miss multiple games by bumping into someone I'd rather that not be a possibility at all.

Well if Zion and BI get hurt and miss multiple games by bumping into someone, getting to the Finals would be impossible, so you have nothing to worry about.

Why are people all pissy about this?

I'm OK with it. But I am wondering who will compensate me for the retina damage I'm going to get trying to watch basketball played on the courts they designed for this thing. Maybe they can sell special protective glasses and make even more money.

Should note that Saturday's game is NOT part of the In-Season tournament. They're just trotting out the City Edition unis for their on-court debut.

Apparently we're not among the teams that designed an alt court to go with the City unis to be used in non-in-season tourney games, barring any last minute surprises.

But here’s the thing: After the In-Season Tournament is over, teams will still wear their City uniforms for assorted games throughout the rest of the season (just as they’ve always done since 2017) — and it turns out that most teams also have a City-specific court design for those games. That’s in addition to their In-Season Tourney court designs. With all of the City uniforms being officially revealed yesterday, those City-specific non-Tournament court designs suddenly appeared on the league’s LockerVision site.

By my count:

Seven teams are not using City-specific court designs this season: the Bulls, Celtics, Grizzlies, Lakers, Pelicans, Timberwolves, and Trail Blazers. Those teams still have In-Season Tourney courts, but they’ll use their primary court designs for City games after the tournament ends.

Adam Silver has said multiple times that the in-season tournament is inspired by European soccer, where they have multiple “cups” throughout the year that teams try to win in addition to their regular season championship

This comparison was bullshite when Silver made it, and it's laughable when fans try to parrot it.

The NBA Cup is not even close to being the same thing as the FA Cup and all the other domestic cups in Europe.

I don’t think anyone would argue with you- the FA cup has been around since the 1800’s, of course it’s more prestigious and means more than a tournament that is about to be 1 day old.

The point remains that the in season tournament drew some inspiration from that concept.

The bullshite comparison has nothing to do with how long the FA Cup has been around.

If you’re going to elaborate, this would be the thread to do it in

I've done it too many times.

But here we go again...

The FA Cup doesn't include just the 20 teams in the EPL, it includes the HUNDREDS of teams in the English FA. The winner of the FA Cup won something completely different from the winner of the EPL season.

Meanwhile, this "NBA Cup" only includes the same 30 teams that are already competing to make it to and win the NBA finals. So, what exactly is the point of the NBA Cup if the same teams in it are already competing for something more important and more established?

Incentivize contracts. Stop paying guarantees for missed games.

Good luck signing nba players to small markets they don’t want to go to if Pels start doing that.

And frankly maybe we shouldn’t sign guys to long term deals that constantly miss games.

Tha Bulls red court is nearly unwatchable.

It’s awful. Like watching Eastern Washington playing football on that red field. Just brutal.

I’m just curious I’m sure shooters must hate this. Doesn’t this mess with colors and depth perception??? All these court colors are bright as hell.

I guess the players to some degree are bothered less by it than the fans sitting above it and having to look down on it. I was trying to watch some of the Bulls game and just can’t do it. It’s giving me a damn headache. I’m almost scared what they are going to roll out in Vegas for the semis and finals.

Do these games count in the standings?

Yes. Every one but the finals game for the two teams that make it. If you notice on the Pelicans schedule they have a break between Dec . 2 and Dec. 11th. If they are not one of the eight teams to make the “playoffs” of the play-in tourney, then they will play two games during that time period. Against who and how they figure that out I don’t know.

More of a CBA negotiation than an individual team approach.
