The Heat are in advanced trade discussions to acquire Luke Babbitt from New Orleans for draft considerations and cash, league sources say.

OFFICIAL: The @MiamiHEAT have acquired Luke Babbitt from New Orleans in exchange for NOP’s own 2018 2nd-round pick & cash considerations.

So basically we getting our 2018 pick back and cash.

Good for Luke. I'm guessing the pick is a fake 2nd. I guess we don't want to eat that 200k guaranteed. Probably cutting Douglas.

I guess we can't move Reke.

Probably a top 55 protected pick.

Works for me, but MIA needs players... They should be asking for Evans instead

I think Ferry is trying to make up for the whole being racist thing by getting rid of all the white players and signing only black ones.

omer is now the great white hope

What do they have that can get tyreke? They will probably have a top 5 pick so I highly doubt they would trade a first for him unless it's highly protected as well.

An era has come to a close.

No one else in the league quite embodied Luke Babbit's unique ability to pull off that coveted Anton Chigurah look.

Well, there's Brooklyn. Portland is matching Crabbe's contract and Miami will likely follow by matching Johnson's contract which leaves Brooklyn under the Salary foor. They're going to be real desperate to reach that salary floor if it they lose these signings.

I don't think that teams really care about hitting the floor, especially this early in the season.

Was this enough to make the signings legal?

I think they still need to cut Douglas and then they would need to sign Frazier under the Room Level.

We were at $2.3 in cap space. Babbit and Douglas give you $2.5 back, so that's $4.8. That $2.3 was counting Frazier's $1.1 hold, if we sign him to the Room Exception I guess that hold comes off the books too and you've got $5.9 to cover Galloway.

This is all correct. If they would have just waived Babbitt, they would have had 200k in dead money on the books. Instead, they not only get that off the books, but they get a little cash in return.

Seems to also indicate that they are unable to unload Evans on anyone.
