Always my favorite post.......

I'd prefer nothing, personally.

Why would you draft someone you can pick up as a free agent?

Just because mocks don't have him listed doesn't make it impossible for a team to draft him. I think even those sites have him in the 70-80 range. If you liked the kid enough, you have to figure there's a possibility another team does too in the 2nd rd.

Unless he added like 30 pounds of muscle and learned better ball-handling, he's not getting drafted.

Blakeny was a good player who played on a bad team. He needs to work on his ball handling and he needs to get stronger. He has a decent jump shot but a slow release. He also has long arms and athleticism. I can see him being an NBA starter with the proper coaching and development; but an all-star is reaching. I wouldn't wish Gentry on him at all. Blakeny needs someone like Pop to coach him.

Trade back in the 2nd round to the last pick or close if you're planning on drafting Blakely.

He can shoot from outside and can elevate to get a shot off. Use him as a situational 3 point shooter until he develops into a rotation player.

If he was on a good team he'd likely get picked. Pels need outside shooters.

Not saying draft him but if it happened as I described it wouldn't be the worst pick.

Athleticism is there. Shooting has plenty potential. He just needs polish and practice.

Personally I am targeting a pick in the 50's.
You can find there real players (f.e. Williams-Goss) - using cash you may sign a real player.
It will be very hard to beat other teams in the race for undrafted players this year (because of two way contracts).

so for those purposes - it is good to buy a pick, or to trade future second rounder for two 2017th pick (like Pels 2018 2nd rounder projected leaguewide around 40-50 for Philadelphia's 46 & 50th pick)

This mock has them taking this guy at 40, the projection for 41 is Caleb Swanigan - (that's who I would pick if he falls that far)

40. New Orleans Pelicans: Wesley Iwundu, G/F, Kansas State | Senior

Iwundu makes sense for the Pelicans as a complementary playmaker and defender. You can never have enough versatile wing players these days.

NBA

NBA Draft: Two Intriguing (But Flawed) Sleepers

41. Charlotte Hornets: Caleb Swanigan, PF, Purdue | Sophomore

Swanigan is one of the most unique players in this class and needs a team willing to invest in his specific strengths. He’s brings a different dimension than Charlotte’s other bigs and could be a steal in the second round if someone has an intelligent plan for him.

Was Blakeney even invited to the combine? Kid should have stayed and played a year under Wade. Big mistake!
