Good to hear. Hopefully they do it again next preseason. They should do a game in Lafayette, baton rouge, Shreveport, and Biloxi, IMO.

The Sixers beat the Heat last year in the season opener. The Heat were clearly doomed to be terrible.

There was tons of empty seats behind one of the goals, but other than that it was pretty solid all around. I had a blast.

It's the preseason in the NBA, absolutely meaningless game. I suppose last year's Clippers team was not that good since a team of backups starting Darius Miller at PG beat the crap out of them at SKC. The Pelicans have one of the best front courts in the NBA, which contains the third best player in the world, that should dominant the lane the majority of games. Holiday is a former all-star point guard who is great on D. Tyreke Evans was playing great towards the end of last season and that should continue. Without ridiculous injuries that have plagued the franchise the last few seasons, the Pelicans are solidly in the playoffs, not fighting for the 8 seed. I don't care what "experts" say, they've paid little to no attention to this franchise, they will have to this season.

I agree, preseason doesn't mean shite, just a way to get playing time together, no one goes hard in preseason other than the bench

holy shite the delusion is strong here. I use to be a young and naïve optimist once too. eventually you will see this team for what it really is. a bunch of cast offs that weren't good enough for their prior teams to keep around and Anthony Davis. AD isn't god he can't cover up all the deficiencies on this squad.

I like Davis, Anderson, Asik and Reke. I would like Gordon a lot more if he'd stretch the floor. The team has 3 guys who all want to do the same thing on offense (get to the basket). Tyreke is the best at doing that and is pretty good at drawing the defense in. Gordon doesn't look to pass when he drives. I really don't like Holiday on this team. He's not a great shooter and isn't a good fit next to Reke. That's just my opinion as an outsider. You've got a lot of talent, let's see how they mesh.

This. I'd love to just have a season where our starters are all healthy the majority of the year.

Fair points.

I hated the Reke signing at the time. I just didn't get it. Seemed like a very redundant player with Jrue and EG and Rivers. I just didn't like his game at all and questioned whether Monty would be able to make it work.

Now I see that Reke can be a VERY useful player and is a stud in a lot of ways. But, he is a redundant player and Monty clearly has no idea how to make it work.

But I am optimistic. If Jrue can play defense and make the occasional 3, and EG can be an effective Catch and Shoot guy, leaving Reke to do his thing penetrating the lane, it can and will work.

This team is WAY more talented than people are giving them credit for. We'll see.

Not to hijack the thread, but did anybody who was at the game notice some weird group trying to recruit outside of the stadium? Wtf was that about?
