“He’s an expert at it,” Rivers said. “He actually does get fouled on most of them. He throws those arms up. It’s hard to prepare for. He’s coming at you. You want to stop him. He’s good at it. He’s as good of a guard as I can remember.
“Grant Hill, if you remember, did it a lot with cuts, the way he would cut into you and run into you and throw his arms up. Very few guys with the ball do that as well as him and not lose the ball. It’s amazing.” Doc Rivers on Harden

Superstars gets superstar calls. Davis benefits from them, too.

quote:Last season was the only season in which there was a significant decrease in his regular season free throw attempt numbers in the playoffs. That was an anomaly.
2 years ago he did get about a 1 FTA per game increase in the playoffs, but last year it was a significant decline as noted above.
I would give Portland credit for that.
Here is his Per 36 free throw attempt numbers in the regular season vs. the playoffs, year by year.
2014: reg season: 8.6 playoffs: 6.8
2013: reg season: 9.6 playoffs: 9.8
2012: reg season: 6.8 playoffs: 7.2
2011: reg season: 5.6 playoffs: 5.4
2010: reg season: 5.0 playoffs: 5.7
So he's gotten more calls in the playoffs 3 times, compared to more calls in the regular season 2 times.
I think it has to do more with match-ups with certain teams than the idea that "when the playoffs come around he won't get calls".

And they get the call like Harden did on that flop ?? Please do.

Dude i've seen defenders come down straight on austin rivers arm and he gets no call. They don't even think twice when it's harden they always give him the benefit of the doubt.

That's why there was a foul call. You can't do that in the NBA.

I'm not gonna argue with someone who is ignorant. Superstar's get the benefit of the doubt compared to every other player who isn't their status bottom line. That's how this league works and you're flat out wrong if you don't believe that.

I will say that most of the foul calls Harden gets that send him to the line really are fouls. Steve Kerr and Doc Rivers aren't lying.
Harden puts his arms out when he goes up for a lay-up, and players see the ball and bring their arms down and either swipe at it and miss and hack him, or they are being lazy with their arms and not keeping them up, and Harden will go up from underneath and create the contact.
He gets a lot of calls because he really gets fouled a lot. Now, he throws his head back when he feels the contact so that he can "sell" the call. But when you watch the replays, he really does get fouled.

I'm sure he does actually get fouled on a lot of them but that doesn't mean anything when he's shooting 15 free throws a game. He get's more foul calls that are strictly on the benefit of the doubt than 99% of the league.
If tyreke got hardens foul calls he would be unstoppable.

Players don't get picked to be superstars by the referees. You make it seem like Harden is only good becuase he gets calls and he only gets calls because he's a superstar. So you're saying the refs made Harden a superstar?

Im ok with guys creating contact. As a short guy, i have to create contact if i dont want to get my layup embedded into the rec center wall. However i dont want a guy who is creating contact to get foul calls. Whether its Evans or Harden. I just dont like it. Doesnt feel like what basketball was meant to be. Its a loophole, and im not mad at Harden for using it. But it shouldnt be there.

Im trying to think of someone who is such a good rim protector that other players dont even attempt to go near him. You know anybody like that?

He's broken out of his funk lately. He was well below his career average in terms of layups.
The problem was the SHOTS he was taking(the reckless kamikaze style). He's gotten it under control lately and as a result looks much better.
Also why is this 4 fricking pages?

I never said the refs made harden a superstar. He benefits more by being a superstar from benefit of the doubt foul calls more than others in the league. Your logic is really shitty and makes your arguments totally baseless.
