I don't see him as a fit with what we're trying to do on offense.

so what basketball team on the planet has a fit for Asik for what they are doing on offense?

I really don't mind him long term, if it's at $8/yr, looking at the other 4/5 combos in our division, but would much much rather him at a 1 year deal.

Not enough to sign KD.

is this really the standard that you're using?

if you don't set your goals high, how can you ever reach those higher levels of achievement?

can't a guy dream a little

If we play hardball with Asik, we could wind up with the Frenchy/Biyombo pupu platter.

We'll make room for Kevin Durant if he wants to come here. No need worrying about what the money looks like now.

Of course we can move assets to make room, but why sign a contract like Asik that you cannot move? It's a handcuff, an anchor. giving mediocre players contracts in between max and MLE gets you in trouble.

ETA: What could we offer KD next year? Just humor me...

That depends on what we do with the MLE. . Assuming 1 year deal on the MLE and we have Asik on the books next year for $10, we'd have $22-$23 million in cap space, enough to attract KD, but we wouldn't have Gordon, Anderson, or Cole. You'd basically have the $2.7 million Room Exception and minimum deals to fill the ?'s below:

Jrue/??
Tyreke/Pondexter
KD/??
AD/??
Asik/Ajinca

Dallas and New Orleans are among the teams that have discussed deals w/forward Richard Jefferson, per source. RJ looking for 1-2 year deal.

????? won't matter
a lineup of Jrue/KD/AD is more than enough, go find some minimum guys that can shoot and want to win a championship. Shoudlnt' be too hard.

I'd only want him for the vet min. He played well as a role player last season

RJ would be a great pickup, imo.
40% from 3 last 4 seasons.

He was still productive and won't cost more than vet min.

Yeah, I would be OK with him getting ~15mpg at the 3.

How about Jefferson and Neal splitting the MLE? A couple of sharpshooter options for the new Gentry show.

We could certainly do worse than Richard Jefferson

At league min I am fine with him. I fear he will want more with the crazy money that is flying around.
