He's the guy that hangs out on the perimeter and occasionally lowers his head and throws up a prayer hoping for a foul in this fabulous offense

Have never been a fan of Asik and never will. However at this point we need anything and everything we can get. Asiks rebounding and defense will help as that is what he is supposedly paid for but as bad as this offense is he will only make it worse.

I'm starting to get the feeling that the Pelicans traded another pick for damaged goods. He's been complaining about his back since last year and "apparently" that is why he was so bad on offense last year with his lack of mobility. He's still got the same issues.

He's out with a calf strain, not his STD back ailment.

“Primarily responsible for the Warriors offense – top-rated for most of the season – Gentry believes the Pelicans have underutilized Davis’ offensive skills. Not only did he express this during his initial interview with (Mickey) Loomis and (Dell) Demps, but Gentry also came into that session equipped with charts and graphs to illustrate his point.”

My mistake I thought he was still having back pain, he probably is but learned to stop whining about it. Anyways the point of my post is what it is. Where TF is AD?
He has the ability (I think) to literally dominate and we have see everything but that. Call it a slump, but he actually looks uninterested in playing. It's very alarming. Forget everything else. AD does not look like he cares.

This is our biggest problem. With all the guys out of the lineup you'd expect your billion dollar superstar to put the team on his back. Instead he looks lost and content with working on his 3-ball. This is what needs to change immediately. We need the AD of last year to have a chance in this first month until our guys get back.

Seems like every time he gets the ball, he gets it at the top of the key while stationary, and has a defender staring him square in the face. It's just "here you go, take this guy one on one - or one on two since you're instantly doubled far from the basket." Doesn't work. He doesn't get the looks he got last year. Even at center, he spends too much time at the top of the key (or beyond). The few times he was set up near the basket, he made things happen.

And if I remember correctly, we started the game with a very capable lineup, but before those guys sat, we were already down by a deficit we would never overcome.

This is my issue as well. Our closing lineup last night of Holiday, Gordon, Babbitt, Anderson and Davis should be able to overcome a single digit deficit with five minutes left. The injuries are hurting us, but that's not 100% of our problems

He CANNOT create his own shot. This board was asking for it repeatedly last season "why aren't we getting AD the ball more in the 4th?" and the answer was the same then too. Giving AD the ball, clearing out and asking him to make something happen is not what he's good at. AD may be the best finisher the game has ever seen, but he can't do it on his own yet. He's not KD or LeBron, he's not even Tim Duncan. All of those guys create about half their shots or more (looking at TD's peak scoring year way back in 2001-02), AD creates less than 30% of his own shots, and I'd be willing to bet a lot of those unassisted baskets are offensive rebounds.

I do think Tyreke would make a night and day difference in the offense, but he's not coming back for another month, so it's on Gentry to improvise. I was firmly team JVG, I sold myself on Gentry after he got the job based on stories about him being willing to try new things and listen to other people. If we keep running this same system with the same results until Tyreke gets back we might as well have stuck with Monty.

Yeah, I wasn't big on the hire (had to change my avatar), but I tried to be optimistic. Not feeling so great about now.

Team VanGundy as well, but I understood the Gentry hire.

Ad HAS to do more and give better effort. It's unbelievable that he has no one-on-one moves yet.

So why do we see him playing at the top of the key or beyond the 3 point line 90% of the game? That's one of the most frustrating things about this offense.
