With FA just a month away,It's a good time to talk about who Gentry/Demps will target for the 3 position. Q-Pon will obviously have a spot but we definitely need another.

Won't happen:

Kawhi Leonard
Draymond Green
Khris Middleton
Demarre Carroll
Tobias Harris

Unlikely but still a possibility:

Danny Green 6'6 210 Age: 28

Corey Brewer 6'9 185 Age: 29

Jae Crowder 6'7 240 Age: 25

Likely gets:

Gerald Green 6'8 200 Age:29

Mike Dunleavy Jr 6'9 220 Age: 34

Dorell Wright 6'7 200 Age: 29

Jared Dudley 6'7 200 Age: 30(If he opts out)

"Bargain Bin"(might not need MLE but the BAE or less)

Wes Johnson
Alan Anderson
Landry Fields
Tayshaun Prince
Alonzo Gee
KJ Mcdaniels

I think Dudley may be an option. He has ties to Gentry.

If you are looking at possible, and a good fit, Dunleavy tops the list for me. Gentry needs high IQ guys who can move the ball and knock down shots. Also, with Q-Pon, we just need a 20-24 mpg guy - which I think Gentry will be moving forward.

Sign me up for Dunleavy with the MLE.

FWIW, Amin is close with Dudley and after we taped the pod he said he thinks Dudley will opt out but he really loves it in Milwaukee and wants to stay

Danny Green would be my first choice, but I think he'll get more than 5.5 mil.

I wouldn't mind Gerald Green or Jae Crowder.

I would be happy with any, in this order:
Crowder
Dunleavy
Green
Wright
Dudley

What happened to Landry Fields?
40% 3 point shooter his first year, looked promising, 20% 3 point shooter since his rookie season, and can't even get on the court the last 2 years.

Wat

Isn't Asik unrestricted? He can just sign with whoever he wants. Why would any potential suitor do business with NO when they can just sign him?

I don't know how I feel about Gerald Green. On the one hand he seems like a bench scorer/shooter that could replace Ryno's production if you have to trade Ryno for something else. On the other hand, he was traded to Phoenix with one foot out of the league, has a breakout year, and then follows it up with a somewhat down year. Is he a one year wonder and we've seen the best he has to offer, or is he just what we're looking for as we try to move to a faster pace?

Green would be the shooter Gentry covets, but he is a ball stopper. Gentry's offense runs best when you have unselfish, high IQ guys who like to pass the ball as much as they like to shoot.

Green is a bit of a chucker. On one hand I feel like he would bring a lot to the table here. On the other, as you say, the ball does stop with him.

The ball typically stops with Ryno too.

Career Per 36 assists and Assist %
Green 1.9 9.0%
Ryno 1.2 5.9%

Danny Green is the only of those 3 I'd be interested in. Brewer would be a fall-back option, at best.

Gerald Green or bust. The rest of those guys are below average NBA players.

Gee for cheap is the only option here that I'd approve of.

Because you can only sign him outright if you have enough space to do so. If a team that is over or near the cap wants to sign him, we can do a sign and trade to make it happen.

Yeah but we sure as shite aren't getting Middleton and Henson for his arse in a S&T, which is why SFP said in a "dream world".

Not straight up, but that's another story. That said, I think you'd create a bigger hole by jettisoning Asik than you'd fill in the process.

Obviously we have to consider the rest of the moves as well.

If we plan on keeping Asik (and Jrue), then the D part of 3& D might not be as necessary. We might really value a scorer there a bit more.

If we, say, go after Goran Dragic and a more offensive Center somehow, then maybe you want a D guy.

I don't know. Just something to think about.
