So, the Bulls need to waive a guard and according to K.C. Johnson one of them could be MCW.

Now, I know he's not a shooter and we've already got Frazier and Jack, I do wonder if he's a guy worth looking into though. He's young and will be restricted this year.

Based on his current stats he could become a poor-man's version of Shaun Livingston.

He's got the length, he's 6'6"/190 whereas Livingston is 6'7"/192. He's already a better three-point shooter than Livingston which isn't saying much. Their PER36 numbers look rather similar. The only thing I don't know about is MCW's defense, but he could be a better version of Frazier that we need with the second unit with his length.

Just a thought.

Crewz, I tried to do a little research before posting so go easy on me

It should be a prerequisite that you don't suck as a perimeter player at 3 pt shots to be on the team. They need floor spacing.

He’s only 26….why not?

Couldn’t do any worse could we?

I'm with it. He length on the perimeter should give people fits as he knows he has 2 towers behind. He could play very aggressively.

When you think about the characteristics you want in a guard in the modern NBA and especially what this team needs, it's most definitely a serviceable 3pt shot to space the floor. I haven't really gotten the chance to dissect MCW's game because I simply haven't watched him play more than a few games, but his career 24.9% shooting from 3 isn't encouraging. He put up numbers his rookie season with an awful 76ers team, but that level of success hasn't really been sustained elsewhere.

Plus, I believe he will be a RFA this offseason, so if for some reason we did pick him up, I wouldn't want to fork over more than six or seven million in keeping him. Not sure what his market value would be in this new salary cap era, but I wouldn't be surprised by anything.

Great size and athleticism. But has never really put it together since that first year in Philly. Found an interesting article on him from CBS Sports.

quote:

What a mess. It's hard to even blame Hoiberg, as nobody has separated himself as the clear-cut best man for the job. Rondo and Carter-Williams both destroy the Bulls' spacing -- Carter-Williams shot 2-for-12 in the two games leading up to the victory over the Magic -- and Hoiberg doesn't seem to trust Grant to run the offense yet.

Doesn't really describe the type of player we need. And that 24% 3 point average is not very good.

But at this point, do we have better options?

When thinking of potential people the Pels need think of who the Cavs would like on their team (young and old).

MCW and Brandon Jennings for a combined $7MM per year would be so much better than Jrue for $21MM per year. We could afford a legit wing then.

That's why I think he would serve best in a Livingston role. Match up with second units and smaller guards and bring effort on D. He can also get out and run and is a willing passer. He's bigger than Frazier and still young. I'm not saying he's a stud but he'd be a solid role player IMO.

No. But every single guy that becomes available-- he is our answer. We must sign him!

There will be a Luis Scola thread on here at some point today. Then some other scrub will be bought out and we must get him! Then, Jimmer will go off in China and Bonzi Wells will say he is making a comeback

And the answer is always...sign him! It's like what happens every time my dog sees some chewed up toy on a walk. He grabs it thinking this will be the toy he never will get tired of and will entertain him forever. Until he realizes that it's just another shite toy and he shouldn't have wasted his time

I'm on the side of moving away from Jrue unless we can pick up a legit SG/SF.
MCW and Jennings are in no way better than Jrue, even at those salaries, and i've been saying all year i'm ready to move on from Jrue, and i think you're an idiot for suggesting this.
Brandon Jennings is worthless.
MCW isn't terrible, but he literally can't shoot. How you make it to the NBA as a guard and you aren't capable of shooting a basketball is beyond me.
Rubio is a 30% 3 point shooter, and over 80% from the free throw line.
MCW is 25% from 3 and 70% from the line.
Elfrid Peyton isn't much better at 29% from 3 and a putrid 60% from the line.
Rondo is around 30% from 3 and 60% from the line, although he's been closer to 35% from 3 the last 3 years.

Ricky Rubio has been a top 10 PG the last 4 years when it comes to real +/-. He's played over 75 games in each of the last 4 years too.
MCW has been on the bottom end of the PG's the last 4 years in real +/-

If you're asking me if i want to have Rubio at $13M for 2 more years, or Jrue at $25 for 4 more years, even with a cap hold of $17M, i'll take Rubio.

As punishment, you should leave him outside in the cold for a while. He is just a stupid dog after all.
