Can't forget the likely top 5 lottery pick.

The process, it worked...

Knicks are in a tight spot cap wise. They don't have max cap space. And to get there could take relinquishing the bird rights for Jrue's brother. Best chance for them is to trade Carmelo and not take nearly as much money back in the trade. And that's not as easy as it sounds, nor will it leave much of a roster.

Long story short, Knicks are not the slam dunk their papers make it sound.

You will be surprised how good 76 ers will be next season. If Embiid plays at least 50-60 games.

They may have two top-5 picks

SF, PG or SG
they will pay fat contract to type-Lowry. May sign Waiters (both are from this area)...

Aaron Holiday is also in this draft. Curious if Jrue will ask Pels to take him with a two-way contract. He is sophomore. First year he was starter. Last year he was reserve to Ball.

They've always needed a PG. Time for the Ben Simmons fandom to be in full force.

Right now you have a whole bunch of Max level players on old cap max contracts that is really skewing people's perceptions of things. It's going to take another few years for salaries to normalize to the new cap. For instance in 2 years Cousins will go from $18 to the low $30s and hopefully AD will go from $25 to the mid $30s. It's easy to say that Holiday shouldn't make more than

Blake Griffin
Paul Millsap
Paul George
Kawhi Leonard
Kyrie Irving
Jimmy Butler
and many more max players making $20 or less

But when those guys are starting out in the low $30s on their next contract, and several of them will be getting that raise this summer, paying a good starter like Holiday $20 million is not a mistake at all.

Right, in the old cap world players with potential coming off of their rookie contracts, and good (not great) starters received contracts in the 11 mil per year range (look at Holiday, Tyreke, Curry, Walker, DeAndre Jordan, Gallinari, DeRozan, Conley, etc...), these same players would all have received 20 mil in this new cap environment.

Lowry, if signed, getting older
2017 pick is an unknown quantity.
Simmons has never stepped on an NBA court
Embiid is perpetually injured.
Okafor doesn't play any D and is a black hole on offense.

The process is still very much a work in progress. One thing is certain, though, season ticket holders have been held hostage.

Jrue at $20mil/year would be a great value.
