@tomhaberstroh: Score when Anthony Davis was on the floor vs. the Warriors this season: Warriors 171, Pelicans 167.

That's crazy. He's averaging 29.5/12.5/3.5 on 60% shooting against the Warriors this year with a DRtg of 99 and an ORtg of 123. LINK / What more does he have to do to tip the game in the Pelicans favor?

Look to pass more to beyond 3 point line, especially if doubled
Attack bogut and get him in foul trouble
And most importantly stay healthy

They abused us in game 1. Take that game out and re-run the AD numbers. I think we will get a better idea of the "AD metric".
ETA: Just re-read this. Talk about revisionist history on my part...oh well. I'd still like to know.

That's weird. NBA.com has him at 98 ORating and 103 DRating v GSW. LINK
It's a very, very small sample size and somewhat shaky just because of its nature, but lineup data supports going small with Davis at the 5. To me, that matches the personnel on both rosters and it is the best chance the Pelicans have in the series. But we'll see.
What's the word on Holiday? Would be great if he is fully cleared to go 20-25. But I don't think "gutting it out" to win a couple of games in a long shot series makes much sense. Much rather keep him healthy and avoid any setbacks.

Trade for Hassan Whiteside

I don't think his status has changed from questionable even on the days he's played. He looked fine after the game in the photos. Just wearing a sleeve, not even ice like Toney Douglas was and Douglas didn't even play.

-Anderson needs to get some rebounds and/or box out who ever he is guarding
- AD needs his mid range back, if not we need him to still score over 25+ points a game. If he averages 25/15 this series. .. WE WIN!!!
-Gordon/Pondexter- Hit 3's and IMO do not shoot so much mud range or attack the basket. We always need someone back when the Warriors go on their fast passing fast break
- Tyreke needs to do exactly what he has been doing all year and just hope his shots and layups are on this series. Better on ball defense would be good too but I dont expect that
-Jrue/Cole PERIMETER DEFENSE and continue to control the ball and set the pace
-Asik needs to make Bogut his BITCH. . 12+ rebounds a game and ( wishful thinking ) 70% from the free throw line
-Cunningham needs to be our Ariza, last time we played Lakers in playoffs. Shut down the best player when he is in the game and knock down his corner shots
- Monty needs to recognize all the mismatches Kerr throws at him and properly counter each lineup
- Score more than 99 points, because the Warriors will most likely get atleast 95

The Pelicans and Warriors are nearly identical in the quality of their shot selection, but that’s where the offensive similarities end. These two teams are near the opposite ends of the spectrum in pace and movement with the Warriors flying around the court and the Pelicans preferring to slow it down and rely on isolations and static pick-and-rolls with Anthony Davis and Tyreke Evans.

Asked on his radio show Thursday if there were any teams did well against the Warriors he would draw inspiration from, Williams identified the Spurs and noted they had won the season series against Golden State.
“We actually learned a lot from the Spurs before we played Golden State,” Williams said of the regular season. “Pop talked to me about a few things that we can do to help our chances against them. He actually did it in an interview, and I just happened to be listening, and we tried those things.
“Now, are we the Spurs? No. But that doesn’t mean we can’t do the things that are Spurs-like, and we’ve tried to implement some of those things in our attack. And we’re going to talk about them every day as we go through this series.”

I also really hope the refs let us play so we can smack steph around.

Sports Insights ?@SportsInsights 4m4 minutes ago David Lee (back) has been ruled out for tomorrow's Game 1 against New Orleans but the Warriors have actually moved from -11.5 to -12.

David Lee vs. NOP:
2/4 4pt, 2reb, 11 minutes - loss
3/4 1/2, 7pt, 7reb, 2ast, 1blk, 20 mins - win
it makes a difference.

without lee ajinca might play more

That Deadspin link was great. Very curious to see if they continue to find those open looks v playoff defense.
Unless they plan to feed him a lot in the post, i don't think Ajinca belongs on the floor much this series. Missing Lee won't matter much because Speights does much of the same stuff. He's a bad matchup for Ajinca too. The Warriors 2s go small and quick. I don't think Ajinca brings enough quickness or defensive positional awareness to be much help.

yeah speights could be a big problem. GSW could conceivably have just benched lee for the series anyway and it wouldn't have mattered. But, IF they can find a matchup that ajinca can handle he can at least soak up some minutes while bogut is out if Anderson is getting roasted
it will be all about making open shots for the pels. Give Monty credit, they get good looks
