sadly I really don't see him staying past 2020 to be in the cards for us

Yea I understand. It means other teams can offer him but have the opportunity to match. I didn't realize he was going to be a RFA.
Read this if you want more detals. Why Anthony Davis will be a Pelican through at least the 2019-2020 season
The real conundrum is do you need another superstar or can AD get it done with a band of quasi All Stars. Landing another Super Star is going to be a tall order, but he's already surrounded by quasi All Star talent, although many question the fit of the current core. But as long as we don't need another Super Star then the path forward is simple:
2015: Turn Eric Gordon's salary slot into a starting SF
2016: Add Depth with the 2016 MLE and 2016 draft pick
2017: Repeat
If you are successful with the picks and MLEs then you go from a 6 deep team to a 10 deep team ready to contend. You still need the pieces to fit and the right coach, but in terms of surrounding AD with sufficient talent, we should be fine as long as we don't make another Eric Gordon sized mistake.

He's sad about everything, it's his way.

Yeah he really seems like a joy to be around.

So the guy we've always dreamed/talked/mention is Jeff Green, who is 28.
He has a player option for 9.5mil for the '15-16 season.
His numbers this season (34.3mpg):
18.1ppg, 4.7rpg, 1.8apg; shooting: 44.8/26.7/84.4
Career high on 3pta (5.0), typically averages 34% on 3.0.
His ortg 109, drtg 112, and PER 16.1 are all career highs (high for drtg as in worst lol)
I think he's very much trade bait, if Boston doesn't want to re-sign him to a 10mil+contract and they believe Evan Turner can be their SF future.
We don't have anything worth giving though. EG is contract hell, Ryno is costly for us to lose for just Jeff Green, and I'm not sure if any team wants or needs Tyreke (although last night's outing might have garnered a lot of attention).

You hit the nail on the head. The trick is you need the extra pieces to land a superstar or just a star level player. Unless you just luck into a superstar FA (ala L. James). But you still need cap space or a team jammed pack with young talent on cheap contracts.
Either way, we do need another star level player. Pretty much every team that has contended over the past 20-30 years has had multi all stars and 2-3 HOF players (except maybe the first Houston team and Dallas). It doesn't make it guaranteed. But it is the easiest way..

Not true at all. Dell has made numerous mistakes to set the franchise back that have nothing at all to do with Gordon's contract:
Tyreke
Rivers
Salmons
Pawning the furniture

We also need to turn Tyreke into a steady, efficient player, be it by lobotomy or trade.

Yeah....that's pretty much it.
Tyreke was an expensive 'fix' to EG. It would have been great if we could move EG, but we couldn't.
Rivers is a combo guard, had one "special" moment in college, but he was completely not ready for the NBA level of play. We were picking him no matter what if he was available. One mock had Portland picking him, and I was hoping that would be the case.
Salmons > Casspi hahahaha

I'm not buying that. If Drummond fell one more spot, he was getting picked by us.

I honestly would hope so, but half of me thinks we'd skip on him and everyone would want to punch dell/monty
Drummond+Davis frontcourt would be better than Asik+Davis. Add on the fact we would have cap space and not have to trade a 1st for a center would be even nicer.

I feel like I was as skeptical of Drummond as anyone, but he was an absolute steal at 9. Utterly shocking that he fell that far. It seems like the laziness he played with in college disappeared when he fell. Maybe it gave him something to prove.

On another note, this is what good coaching can do:
Harrison Barnes last year
28mpg, 9.5ppg, 4.0rpg, 1.5apg, 1.1tov, 0.8spg, 0.3bpg; shooting 39.9/34.7/71.8 on 8.7/2.4/2.3 attempts. 9.8 PER, 100 ortg, 105 drtg
This year:
30mpg, 11.3ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.5apg, 0.9tov, 0.4spg, 0.2bpg; shooting 50.4/41.5/77.4 on 7.8/2.4/3.1 attempts. 14.5 PER, 122 ortg, 101 drtg
I think AI is on the trading block as well

I feel like Barnes started out last season pretty well, too, then kind of fell off the wagon.

In the first 20 games, he played 34mpg, 13.9ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.9apg, 1.6tov, 1.2spg, 0.2bpg.
Shot: 47.6/39.6/71.7 on 11.6/2.4/2.7 attempts
ortg 104, drtg 108

CP3 was here for 6 seasons. That's about how long I see AD here. Hope I'm wrong but for now, Pels are just a stepping stone to the bigs. Watching Dell and Monty frick it all up just keeps reiterating that point.
