I don't see why so many bandwagons are complaining. Would you rather max out a free agent PG and have no depth like we do currently, or would you rather spend your cap on depth/shooters and then use bird to go over the cap on Holiday... sounds like the no brainer to me. You can't expect him to play like an all star in the first game of a new offense when he had 1 practice to prepare.

Max player or not I really don't care. There is no one out there available at the time that would be better to spend the money on. I don't really care if we have to overpay a bit, we know what we got with him and last night was just one of those nights. Not gona hold that against him

exactly, I dont think people realize what bird rights do. we could spend the 20 or so mil we are projected have available on other players and then sign holiday to whatever he wants. Or even package our 2018 pick once available for another potential stud. So many options by keeping Holiday

Welcome to PT...

He is not a max player, but we will pay him max money. He is a B to a B+ player.

I would love to get Gordon Hayward on this team with Jrue and AD/DC.

I think that would immediately put us into contending territory.

If the pelican maximize opportunity and use whatever open space we have to sign shooters and depth and then use bird on holiday it doesnt really matter what we pay him. the difference between 18-25 million per year will be miniscule. the cap is going to go up yearly. the issue is Benson, if he's willing to pay the necessary money to build this team we can do it.

It is definitely possible to get Hayward and keep holiday. just have to stretch asik and then dump 1 of moore, ajinca, hill. can sign hayward, use MLE on shooters/depth with potential and then bird on Holiday.

I just think he is a guy that brings what we need and has the personality to not need the spotlight.

The issue is we're in a cap transition time where contracts of old have to catch up to contracts of new

Players who are getting new contracts now, most teams had money to sign a player to a max contract. True Max are limited, but even after those are signed there are still 10+ more reams who can give max. Because of that, b players like jrue get max contracts that are equal to davis' max.

These dudes don't realize Mike Conley is the 2nd highest paid player in the NBA

The whole "max player" distinction is stupid, anyway. Any system where Lebron and Mike Conley make similar money means values are screwy at the top of the pay scale. Jrue will be overpaid, AD will be underpaid. It is what is.

And George Hill is pretty much in the same position as Holiday where the Utah can't really afford to lose him. If things weren't so unsettled in Indy I bet Teague would be getting a nice pay day too.

You get Hayward and Jrue then you better hope you can get some guys to come in on second line for minimum money. Need quality depth over just super stars

Don't think we have a shot at Hayward - either Utah or Boston for him I gather.

Fournier, Ellis, Bradley most likely and MAYBE Butler but unlikely

Thats where the 2018 pick comes into play.. I know hes been hurt but what about Khris Middleton.. he's long, shoots the 3 very well, and is very solid on defense. I dou t the Bucks are willing to move him but it wouldn't hurt to ask

He's kind of central to what the Bucks do. The only reason Fournier probably got mentioned is because the Magic might be looking to blow it up again. It may not be easy to trade for a name we all like.

We need to look at a guy who can come in and contribute right away, but has potential to grow. Look at Jae Crowder. That's the e kind of guy I want us to find. I think hill and Moore can improve, but if you keep looking for bargains without overpaying you're in good shape.
