He also stated in a interview earlier that Tyreke will come of the bench when he will return.

quote:

Asked if the plan is to continue bringing Jrue Holiday off of the bench when he's back up to speed following a 12-game absence to tend to his wife and newborn, Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry said that he likes their current rotations and that "there's really no plan" to change it as of now. Gentry also said that like last season, when Holiday played the first three months on a minutes limit that kept him out of back-to-backs, bringing Holiday off of the bench helps balance his allotted playing time (which Gentry has said is fewer than 30 minutes). The Pelicans are 3-0 since Holiday's return.

I see no problem with this especially since it is working so far - he'll finish games and that's what matters

Who is Tyreke going to take minutes from? Frazier is still getting and earning minutes since Holiday returned. Cunningham and Hill combined for just 30 minutes last night with Holiday guarding Wiggins a lot. I'm thinking when Tyreke comes back we see even more 3 guard sets unless they're playing someone like LeBron.

I don't want Tyreke to mess up the flow. Send him to Philly + their own 2nd (pick #32ish) for Noel. Sounds like they're giving him away.

only issue I have with jrue off the bench is it limits minutes with jrue and Davis together which has been an incredibly good pairing stats wise so far. another way to look at it though is that holiday could be our ginobili

it's a good problem to have

With Frazier, the offense runs more exclusively through AD. I kind of like getting Davis rolling in the first 5 minutes. That said, if Davis misses any time, it seems nonsensical to expect that lineup to produce with Jones consistently.

maybe so but the jrue/AD minutes together stats are mind boggling

absolutely. though I do think Holiday should start when they think he's ready. but try to pull him at the 6 minute TO to stagger him and Davis some. and get Frazier/Davis some time. maybe bring in Jones/Frazier together most nights?

if/when Evans comes back, they can't possibly bring him and Holiday off the bench can they? they've been pretty good about lineups so far, but that would be a head scratcher for me.

Frazier won't play much if Reke comes back and is healthy.

Hopefully not having s5 spot would not be an issue for Jrue while negotiating extension...

They don't have the cap space for an extension.

With Cunningham out 4-6 weeks, I'd see Tyreke taking most of his minutes when he returns.

Sounds illogical to me but also intriguing
what the holiday/Frazier pairing has shown is that jrue can play in any pairing and make it better. and we know that Evans can excel off the bench

holiday
evans
Galloway or hield
Jones
D.C./hill/brown/etc

they should be able to score/defend and maybe even rebound against two's
there's some shooting there, some pick and roll potential for Jones (whose movement without the ball has been so nice) and if they are cooking Davis could sit for at least an additional 5- 8 minutes. got to get Davis down to 30 mpg

Pels dont need cap space for Jrue extension. They have his full bird rights...

Right, but extensions aren't very good for most players because it can only be 3 extra years and is based off the previous salary. Jrue isn't signing some 3/$35ish extension, and to give him more than that you'd need to renegotiate which would involve cap space. All the recent extensions you've seen happening are extension of rookie deals which allow you to pay them up to the max rather than basing it off the salary on the current deal.

jrues gonna get a 4 yr near max
pels may as well go all in if they aren't going to trade him
letting him walk would be disastrous especially with dells track record of using cap space

there's still so much that needs to break right

1) hield needs to be able to replace Galloway
2) hill needs to find his 3PT er
3) Evans needs to play well enough to attract a decent deal
4) ajinca needs to be moved or stretched
5) and they still need a wing

maybe they get lucky with brown?
maybe TJones would take an exception level deal?
maybe they hit on a middle first or early 2nd round pick?

honestly i trust demps to make a better pick at 14 then at 5. taurean prince would have fit right in this year, or valentine, or sabonis, etc

all the good PGs in this draft might push some wings down the board?

I think you'd at least need to give him a Galloway level deal if he keeps playing like he's played. I'd take Jones for another year, but no more than that because you really need to get Diallo ready for that role.

right on
nobody (new signings outside of holiday) should get more than 2yrs going forward until we see about hield/diallo/brown/etc

with potentially 2 more rookies next year and a 3yr core of Davis/holiday/Moore/hill/asik they might be able to turn this thing if players develop. I do like Jones running the floor and cutting though, much needed

ajinca is just dead money at this point
thank goodness uncle al has other options

I've asked this before, but if 2014 Reke shows up, shouldn't the Pels try and sign him to like a 2/24 deal? Who can the Pels realistically spend that money on? Hayward ain't coming here.
