Someone mentioned that to me earlier. I'd lose my shite if that happened, but it sounds like a stupid rumor.

No way. Dunn, Hield, and Murray will all be better than Russel.

I'm hoping so. I did a quick google search and found 1 article talking about it but it didn't seem to be a reputable website. I'm sure we will hear all kind of rumors as we get closer to Thursday

My barber's dogsitter's cousin said that his transgendered mother-in-law said that we were going to do the opposite of Philly and go small and trade a bunch of players and picks for Russell and Rubio. Anyone hear anything like that?

He's one of the obvious targets on a 3 way with Philly that would send Okafor to the Lakers. I'd say if this were from an actual source it's more us trying to get Boston to increase their trade offer for 6 than us thinking Russel is better than one of the guards we could draft. Isn't Russell more of a combo guard than PG? His assist number have never been very strong. I would think if they were going PG they'd want Dunn more, and if they were going scoring guard Hield/Murray would be better.

Draft day trades of a relatively early lottery pick are often very fact specific: who is there when the pick rolls around.

I wouldn't believe any rumors right now.

He was hands down a better prospect and showed enough in a weird rookie year to make anyone think he is a better prospect than any of the guards.

He is a pg, but can and has played plenty off ball. Assist numbers on that Lakers team w/ Kobe and Clarkson and Williams under Byron Scott are tricky. And he played off ball some in college. Dude is a very good passer and has shown that already in the NBA.

Now, maybe they like Dunn's defense better. That's fair. Russell doesn't have those same attributes. But, I would take him every single day over Murray and Hield. No Pels fan should be upset if they somehow land Russell.

ETA- Why would Boston want 6?

MM has heard that if they can't turn 3 into a star trade they are trying to cash in some assets and get 2 top 8 picks in this draft. Basically 1 of Bender/Brown/Chriss and 1 of Dunn/Murray/Hield. Cashing in the assets if it's not enough to land a Jimmy Butler makes sense.

As in can run Gentry's offense PG? I just don't see them trading for a non lead guard with them already not being completely comfortable with Jrue in that role. But Russell is still on a rookie deal so it would be a way for them to add young talent on a cheap deal but still be kind of win now.

I would think so. His passing/vision is one of his better attributes

ETA- More than anything they need players who will keep the ball moving on offense "ball has energg" and make smart plays. Im not qualified to say if Russell can be a guy like that.

I agree Russell is legit and passing and 3pt shooting are probably he's best attributes I think ppl don't realize how disfunctional the lakers were last year with it being Kobes last year.He would be the best pg in this draft

Why do most posters on this site prefer to gamble on the draft pick instead of 2nd year players that proved to be legit?

Russell proved to be a NBA player and is two years younger than Dunn/Hield.

Yea, his off the court is a little shaky, but from just talent we hope our draft pick can be as good as him.
