AD who isn't 'developed' as a scorer averages 20.2ppg

BG who is a better 'offensive player' averages 22.6ppg, but shoots 1.4 more shots than AD and gets 1.5 more ft tries per game than AD.

Both hit about the same % of shots (52.2 vs. 52.4)

Both get the same amount of rebounds (10.3 vs. 10.0)

Griffin gets more assists (3.5 to 2.9 TO) than AD (1.3 to 1.8 TO)

AD combines for 4.5 steals/blocks

BG combines for 1.8 steals/blocks

going with AD.

I think people choosing Griffin are ignoring potential. Griffin's game is growing, but not nearly at the rate of Davis'. I don't think anyone believes it's possible that Griffin could someday be the best player in the NBA.

If Griffin lives up to his potential by developing a jumper and mean streak, he could be the next Karl Malone. If AD lives up to his potential, he'll be the next guy they're asking if he's better than Jordan. It's a potential HOFer vs. a potential GOAT, not even much of a contest.

I would like for potential to be ignored in this debate...who is better right now?

Griffin is starting in the All-Star game...so it's not obvious to everyone that AD is better.

...the stupid popularity contest needs to end if it comes at the expense of better players missing out on their accolades.

People are homers, ask 10 random Clippers fans and 8 of the 10 will probably say Griffin. Ask 10 random Pels fans and you probably get the same result.

I agree, either stop valuing "all star" selections so much, or don't let the fans choose. It's a joke that Kobe is a "starter". At least Griffin is a top 4-5 player at his position this season.

remember a few years ago when LA had a hell of a season and he still didn't make it?

yao ming was injured and still made it

kobe is injured this year and a shell and still made it

its a popularity contest, always has been.

I think if you take into consideration both offense/defense - AD is the better overall player.

Now if it were kevin love vs. AD, I'd say love is because his offensive skillset and rebounding timing is just better, not 'slightly better'

Agreed. You could argue that LA is having a better season, too. I think that Davis' offense this season is on par with Griffin and his defense puts him over the top.

exactly...Kobe adds to his total of all star selections this year when she shouldn't be eligible really (Kobe's great btw).

Steph Curry made it this year, but he should have been one last year too.

it's not consistent at all

I know people think the show is shite but Skip and Stephen A. are discussing how the ASG voting should change and go to coaches and players voting.

It's a joke that Kobe was eligible to be selected to the ASG. Would fewer people watch if the players were selected by coaches and players, rather than the fans? I think not.

People will still bitch even if the coaches and players vote. Then "team guys" and "hustle players" start getting put in the game. Next thing you know JJ Redfick is on the team as a 3 pt specialist and Shane battier is brought in as a "glue guy"

Since when do people care about the ASG so much? The game means nothing, no one plays defense... It's for entertainment purposes. What's the big deal again?

it's not about the game at all. it's about the award....All Star game appearances is an important point when talking about a player's career/legacy/HOF deservedness.

...no one cares about the game, but I believe that the players care about getting the award.

In your estimation, has a player been looked over for the Hall based on ASG appearances?

Which HOF caliber players even get snubbed?

Davis will be in the game if that's what you're worried about

This is a list of things that AD can do better than Griffin:

-Handle the ball
-shoot
-block/defense
-not be a pussy

If you're talking about dunking and making SC Top 10, then yes Blake griffin is better. If you're talking about overall basketball player, Anthony Davis is undoubtedly better. Blake Griffin is a good ball player, top 20 in the league. But that is his ceiling. Anthony Davis will one day be top 5 in league
