His D seems to be incredible and he’s already a better offensive player.

Herb’s a poor man’s Dyson Daniels?

They are both incredible defensive players. The basketball iq is off the charts with both as well.

Herb’s length and 3 point shot blocking is top tier, while DD’s ability to get his hands on the ball low is impressive.

Both are great cutters off the ball with impeccable timing.

The difference is the 3 point form and ball handling. DD is better at both.

Hard to disagree with OP’s take, but I’m glad we have them both

Can we play both with Murray/CJ, BI, and Zion?

I can't wait until later in the season when they play a lineup of

PG - Daniels
SG - Herb
SF - BI
PF - Zion
C - Nance

Not a starting lineup, but a damn good offensive and defensive combo unit that allows Zion and BI full use of the paint.

Herb is basically is what he is at this point given his age. Sure he can fine tune some stuff but he really won’t be physically maturing.

Dyson on the other hand still physically maturing and probably will continue to do so for 3 or4 more years . I could legitimately guess he gets an inch or so taller in addition to gaining his grown man strength.

Daniels has been captivating so far. Herb last year drew my vision every defensive possession and yet Daniels has been drawing my attention on offense and defense.

I think it's great to have them both

Dyson’s D is good but you are selling Herb waaayyyyy short.

If not for refs that can’t officiate him properly, and despite that, he came into the league and became a top 3 perimeter defender last season. Still is. Could go from frustrating Kyrie one game to guarding Lebron James the next. A near lockdown guy that can lock down 1-4 and switch 1-5.

19 year old Dyson gives you like 75% of that, with a better foundation of passing and offense. With room to become a Super-Jrue on defense with more length and size, so I think he has the obvious upside, but he’s also mostly playing backups and not guarding the opposing teams best player, which I think skews some of his eye test

It's a hot take.

But can't we just be grateful we have 2 young defenders

The biggest difference is that Herb is 24 years old, and Dyson is 19.

With Herb involved, we can turn that Graham/Hayes/Temple trade package from a salary exchange into an elite guy.

JUST SAYIN

I don’t know about already, but I can say with certainty that that in 5 years when Dyson is 24 like Herb currently is he’s going to be a massive asset. He will definitely be a much better version of Herb by then.

This team is succeeding not because it’s big 3 are wrecking teams like we had hoped. It starts with the depth and versatility. I’m not sure going “All In” with this roster would be a consolidation move but maybe a move to add more depth (and salary). Like keeping Graham and trading Jax/Temple for another rotation piece. We really need another big.

If he’s not, which I don’t think he is. He will be better sometimes in the future.

Honestly I think we currently have enough “elite” guys.

I would honestly love CJ as a 6th man. It would mean dumping Graham tho as CJ and Graham on the floor together has been a disaster so far especially on defense.
