We can't afford Herb with our big 3 and a bench, especially with DD. We are going to have to make hard decisions in a year at most.

At the very least we will probably have to pick one to move from Trey/Herb/Jose. It’s a much better problem to have than “what GLeague guy can start at SF for us this year?” but still a painful decision.

That’s a brutal decision but I think Herb would be odd man out for me. Dyson can do a lot of what Herb does. We don’t have any replacements for Jose or Trey

His D seems to be incredible and he’s already a better offensive player. Herb’s a poor man’s Dyson Daniels?

There’s no reason to be divisive but Daniels has the higher upside, imo.

I was saying this a few days ago and or 2 posters thought I was crazy.

The cap spike was brought up, but I dont think at least some realize that just like with the last cap spike, players marker values just go up accordingly.

With Herb involved, we can turn that Graham/Hayes/Temple trade package from a salary exchange into an elite guy.

We have 2 elite guys already. And Herb is an elite defender who doesn’t need the ball.

Ingram is approaching Top 10 player in the world status.

Why get someone who will get in their way?

Unless it’s Steph Jokic Giannis or Embiid….hard pass.

Inevitable. Alvarado is next. Fans love underdog stories and it often clouds their analysis

Both are fine players who fit a role. Not full time guys or long term core pieces, necessarily.

The cap spike does play a huge role in their salary though, because Herb and Jose will be up for extensions before the cap spike is enacted, which means we could get them at a lower salary than we would once the spike is in effect.

This is why I don’t want someone like Turner, and why Jonas is perfect for us. Even though he’s capable of putting up 20 points a night, Jonas is fine with getting his 10 points and 20 rebounds and winning games.

We need more guys with that mentality.

I'm not anti-Herb. I'm simply pro-Dyson.

I also don't think asking "why doesn't Herb seem as good as he did last year" is turning on Herb as much as asking what's going on so we can see if expect it to get better soon.

Meh, P/T MO is turn on players that they once adored. Herb has been playing well.

I think expectations of Herb, by Dink and others, that he was going to play more point guard might have been too lofty.

He’s our primary defender a smart cutter and his shot will come back. He will star in that role.

Just so I understand and let's leave Herb out of the equation for the moment, just to simplify things...are we saying that there would be a question as to whether the Pels would pick Trey OR Jose...if they had to pick one or the other to move?

And going out on a limb...I'm gonna assume the answer is...we keep Trey and let Jose go IF it came down to those two. So, obviously Trey would be a keeper and the next logical step would be to decide if the Pels would prefer to move Herb OR Jose. So, it sounds like it just basically gets down to Herb or Jose assuming one of the 3 must be moved. JMO...I COULD be wrong.

There's no real point in comparing Trey & Herb in this discussion...unless you think Jose is definitely the keeper...over BOTH of the other two guys, which hopefully, nobody does.

I think Trey is the clear keeper of the 3. He brings the most on both sides of the ball. How much he gets paid, say $15m vs $25m, could impact what you have to pay the other 2. It also could be Jose gets paid like a good backup PG and Herb gets paid like a high end 3 & D wing. If you’re going to have to pay Trey then the choice between Herb and Jose might be who’s cheaper, not who’s better.

Let’s just hope they become legit contenders. The merch sales and sponsorships along with new league revenue sources might make the tax less onerous and they can keep all 3.

I just honestly think that it's silly to try to predict what we'll do in a year or two.
