I can't believe people earlier this offseason didn't think the Clippers would part Gordon for CP3.

Earlier was different, the leak says he'd extend with the Clippers and "multiple" other teams. That makes him more valuable and opens up a bidding war which completely changes the Hornets leverage.

The only way a team in a market like ours can win is through the draft. If you can get 1 or two players that pan out, you can then build around them.

OKC and SAS have proven this. Sometimes you get that, and sometimes you're the Timberwolves.

But sorry, its been proven time and time again that big time guys won't come here. We have to rebuild the culture. We have to hit lottery gold once or twice and build SMARTLY around those players with complimentary, interchangeable pieces on reasonable contracts.

Only way you make it.

And as I mentioned in that thread, he would have been foolish to flat out say he would be open to an extension in the first place. Chris Paul is leverage period.

If we trade him to the Clippers, I'd rather Bledsoe and Aminu, plus a couple of draft picks. Also, I'd want to dump Okafor at the same time..

Exactly, especially for a franchise player.

you only pay what the market allows

there aren't that many teams who are seeking paul, and there are fewer of those who are realistic who he will agree to sign with

so "overpay" means that we have to accept the best deal of the teams who (a) want paul and (b) paul will re-sign with

I really like Chris Paul and he's the reason I started watching the NBA again. I really don't get all the hate for him. I'm gonna cuss him out if he leaves but I think I would still pull for him. We have to hear him out first. If he says he wants to leave then frick him let's get as much as we can.

I try not to pay attention to all that different type of stuff," Paul said. "My heart is in New Orleans."

I might be wrong but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt

damn this thread is hard to read. Goes to show you that hornet fans are the least knowledgeable of any team on this board. Ridiculous

Yeah, I don't really get it either. I have zero ill will if Paul doesn't want to be here. There's good reason for him not to. Hopefully trade him and move on.

your trades are some of the most unrealistic proposals i have ever read. Like my 13 year old brothers trades in NBA live.

Look at Paul's ppg and apg last year compared to previous years...yeah, he "hustled" and played his lazy arse off.

Also, solid generalization about hornets fans being stupid.

how is he trying to flee?

he is a trade piece just like every other big name player before him in the last year of his deal that their team thought they couldn't re-sign.

so naturally, he is going to be talked about in potential trades. Until he comes out and demands to be traded you can't even begin to say he is "Trying to flee".

Chris Broussard is pretty good and his sources are typically spot on...he has people talking about where CP wants to go.

I don't give a flying rats arse that the dude wants to leave. What I want is him to let shite play out and wait, not allow his people to start this crap a year early. To me, that's tying to flee.

Cp3 is done in nola. You can't really blame him for wanting to go to a team in order to have a better chance for getting a ring, but he is doing it for the wrong reason. He sees LeBron, melo, wade, amare, etc. he wants to fit in. He played every game last year as hard as he could? bullshite he had a stretch of games you can tell he was half assing, including a game he scored 0 points. His playoff performance against the Lakers was an audition to other teams, the hornets were on national tv twice the entire season. If he had played the way he did in that series during the season we would of been higher than a #7 seed. He either needs to resign before Christmas or get the f##k
