This may have slipped my mind, but when has he ever complained? All he said was that he wants to win now. Can you blame him for saying that? We were under shitty management when that was said.

The window has closed on the Paul era and it's time to start fresh. If you can draft your stars and turn them into a contender they'll stay otherwise the glamor markets will be too attractive. The OKC model is the one to follow, and it'd probably be called the NO model if Tyson and Peja hadn't gotten injured. But they did and that window closed, it's just taken awhile for fans and management to accept it.

He complains to his agent/people that he wants to be dealt because we ALL know the Hornets aren't winning shite anytime soon. So then his people tell ESPN, ESPN makes a shite show out of it, then CP goes on record and says "Oh, I just want to win. -smile-"

I don't blame him for complaining/bitching/wanting to be dealt...i would too. And I don't know if how I'm describing it is even how it happens. But that's how I see it, however flawed it may be.

He has never publicly said that he wants to be traded.

He doesn't need to. That's what he has agents for. His agents went silent after The Summit. We heard a steady stream of chatter about Dwight and DWill all season and lockout but the only Paul stories were pure speculation by wishful writers in NY, nothing was sourced. If they are talking now it's because he wants them to talk.

So when do the signings start, the 5th?

This.

Why make yourself look like an a-hole when you have an agent? That's what the agent gets paid millions for...to be the prick.

Like the other poster said, if he wanted to quell all the talk he'd just issue a statement saying he doesn't wanna be traded. Basically it sounds like he doesn't wanna look like the bad guy, but he wants out, so he's making his agents put the word out there.

Signings start the 9th. I believe the 5th is when they expect the lockout to officially end.

The NBA which still owns the Hornets will f*ck Chris Paul every which way but loose here. He needs NBA approval for any move and this type of idiotic posturing is what will get Chris Paul sent to Siberia for all the NBA is concerned. The Chris Paul situation is a tactic to try and make the owners backdown. F*ck Paul. He is the new LeBron and not in a good way.

I heard a comment during the lockout that there are so many agents these days that they've had to come down on pricing for getting players contracts to the point that they don't make their money on contracts,

Yes this is true and mostly because of the deal Happy Walters did for Amare. He is only getting a 1/2 of a percent from Amare's deal and on top of that, is paying Amare 20% of his fee to Amare for any clients Amare brings to him.

Clippers is the deal I wanted all along. I would like to wait a week or 3 and see just how bad the Wolves are before we make the deal. I also would ask for the moon and stars: multiple picks, Gordon, Aminu, and taking on Ok. Then see what you can get.

Getting CP and Ok, resigning Jordan, would be a pretty good consolation to Dwight.

Let's get it over with. Sign junk players to 1 year deals, get the best deal, tank like a mofo.

Seems to me most likely CP endgame is trade to Lakers, Clippers or Celtics. Worth asking: Would he do Golden St?

Unfortunately NBA players as a group are hugely unappreciative of microbrews and food carts. @davies_nick Is Portland an option for CP3?

For those asking, Cs would have to be for Rondo. Lakers would have to be for Bynum. Clippers? Likely Gordon.

How fricking overvalued is Rondo?

But we all know he's going to half arse it, especially without West, and the Hornets will miss the playoffs.

If Paul is going to be shipped I would hope that the Hornets tank the season in order to position themselves to win the lottery and capitalize on some of the great talent in this next draft.

Bynum or Rondo. frick that. frick that.

Get Gordon and that Wolves pick. The end.

I blame horrid ownership and shut management, not Paul.

Now, let's get the best deal possible.

The catch 22 or whatever is that Hornets fans (the few that there are) won't have enough patience for tanking then rebuilding. I really think what you said is spot on...there is tons of talent coming to the NBA in 2012, and I hope the Hornets can tap some of it. I just hope the fans can realize it's going to take at least 3 to 5 years before something solid comes together.

If managed correctly, especially given how talented the next draft will be, Hornets can be back to playoff contenders in two years. I don't think the turnaround has to take 3-5 years, especially in basketball.

I think the best way to handle tanking is to rebrand. I've never been part of the rebrand bandwagon but it's just the sleight of hand needed to keep 10,000 season ticket holders expecting a playoff team interested during a rebuild.

does he have a right of refusal clause in his contract for trades?

if not, then trade him to anyone who will give us real value at this point if we obviously KNOW he wont be back next year

The NBA has done an amazing job re-making the business side of the hornets. I know someone in the org. He said right now they are closer to a midmarket in profitabity than a small market.

I think fans will understand the need to rebuild and will support them long term.

We have no choice. We have to make BASKETBALL decisions, not Shinn-esque money decisions. Let's pull that band-aid off. Now.
