gordon is no superstar, but he's a lot better than this.

Based on what, exactly?

Gordon has no rim game. He doesn't defend. He doesn't rebound. He's a guy that can shoot the basketball moderately well (ranked like 87th in TS%).

Isn't that exactly what a 6th man usually is? A guy who can provide scoring juice off the bench? I don't see any other aspect of his game that is good. He's kinda like an average Jet Terry.

As for Jordan, his DRR is nothing remarkable (worse than Okafor who most label "soft" and worse than Aaron Gray). He's not a bad player, but he's basically just a body, which can be useful, but again, are these two guys really worth a superstar player?

I dont hate CP at all. Dont even dislike him.

He's a good young player with upside, probably the 2nd best player on the Clippers.

He does have some upside.

But then again, he's shown no real skills outside of being able to shoot the ball decently well and handle it decently enough.

Trading for Rondo or Bynum would be worthless. You get a player that has likely reached his potential, and you don't get a lottery pick.

I don't disagree with that either.

I'm not wholly against moving Paul, if it's to put the organization in a better position to win, but I just don't see why you trade a superstar player, the best at his position in the league, for Gordon/Jordan and a high pick?

The Nuggets got Derrick Favors (3rd overall pick) AND 2 1st picks AND money for Deron Williams, who isn't as good as CP3.

We'd be crazy not to ask for a similar package back from whoever is asking. Gordon/Jordan is simply not worth it.

Wasn't directed at you.

I just read through the 1st page, then scrolled back up and clicked reply to your OP so as to comment on the thread in general rather than one specific poster.

Gotcha.

I've never been in favor of trading Paul but the writing's really on the wall.

If we were ever gonna trade him for young players and picks, this would be the year. The top of the 2012 draft is stacked.

A couple good young players in a trade and a few high lottery picks could really set the team up nicely

Kinda my feelings as well.

I just didn't agree with the idea that Gordon/Jordan and a high pick would be enough.

gordon is a good 3rd-4th piece

jordan is just a young, big guy with a lot of upside. there aren't many guys with his potential available

gordon > nothing

I really like Chris Paul and he's the reason I started watching the NBA again. I really don't get all the hate for him. I'm gonna cuss him out if he leaves but I think I would still pull for him. We have to hear him out first. If he says he wants to leave then frick him let's get as much as we can.

I agree but getting those guys, then adding some combo of Drummond, Barnes, Anthony Davis, maybe Lamb or Sullinger would be a nice place to start over at.

I'm sure there were Nuggets fans that said the same thing about Carmelo before last season. It's still not 100% that he'd leave, I don't believe he'd take that big of a pay cut to go to the Knicks, but this really looks like a plausibly deniable trade demand to me.

The optimist says, great to hear.

The pessimist concentrates on the, "right now" part

Exactly.

I don't see a Favors/multiple picks type trade out there.

I think if you can get Gordon, Jordon, and Minny's first round pick, that is an absolute slam dunk of a deal. We can't get that though. I seriously doubt the Clippers are willing to give up all of that.

If theyre willing to trade everything but Griffin to get Howard, I dont see how you assume that much of a drop off to get CP

This is starting to feel just like last offseason. They are trying to make Demps blink again. Paul is not leaving that much money on the table to play for the Knicks so now may be the only way to get out on their terms. If you don't want to force Paul to stay by calling his bluff, is the better deal made now or near the deadline? As long as Demps doesn't over pay for anyone the team could be blown up at any time during the season if he decides to wait until the trade deadline.

re-sign Landry, and we'd already have three starters with Gordon and Jordan.

The Clippers have the best package to offer. I'd sell now before the season starts.

Gordan/Kaman/and some first round picks.

You have to overpay in this market to get players. CP3/Oak/maybe another piece to make the trade work

for

Gordon/Jordan/Kaman/TWolves pick

Then you've got 2 good young players that still have room to improve, get rid of your worst contract for a player with a lot more upside, get a big expiring contract, and a high pick in a really good draft. Plus we'd have TONS of cap space in the near future. That's a pretty solid position to be in when you're hitting the reset button. Do you trust re-signing West with his situation? Even if we do, in what way could we realistically get better than we have been the past few years?

Exactly, especially for a franchise player.

I can't believe people earlier this offseason didn't think the Clippers would part Gordon for CP3... saying it was too much. Now people want all sorts of extras. You don't see pennies on the dollar... especially for a team desperately needing quality pieces to rebuild.
