Sounds like a solid addition at a position of need.

And his ability to stretch the floor and hit an open 3 from the 3 position is huge for this team. Hell, if he could only hit a corner 3 it would be a nice improvement

He'll get minutes with this team.

He is friends with Demarcus and they share an agent. I know Dell regrets letting Casspi go, but I wonder if Fegan had soemthing to do with him being included.

Casspi hasn't predominantly played the 3 since he played in CLE fwiw. He may be able spell a few minutes there, but at this point his is a stretch 4

He hasn't had a front court featuring two top 10 players before either. I think he'll play the 3 a lot more than you think. Not a lot of options for the Kings at the 4 spot.

Karl is the one who put him as a stretch 4, but that doesn't mean he isn't a small forward with that versatility

He's a small forward foremost, with the ability to play the 4 in a small ball lineup. Versatility is a good thing, and his 3 point shooting and height allow him to play both for us situationally.

I just can't see us keeping a 3 point shooter out of the lineup

It's crazy seeing people talk about Casspi like he is nothing, considering just about everything I've heard from "smart" NBA people is how good he is shooting and defensively. Seems like a perfect fit for this team.

I think Casspi is a fine player but if it comes down to him and DC and this staff only has the minutes for one of those guys, I fear they choose Casspi so I don't know how much he will matter.

Interesting. On every Pelican's site the story of Casspi's release from Pelicans got all kind of weird explanations and descriptions.
I've already seen that it was because of his religion or because of Israel's politics support... And here is new discovery that "he forced a buyout"...
Actually things were very simple and Casspi quite clearly explained it at least in Hebrew.
After Casspi's terrible tenure in Cavs (what happened there is really out of scope) he didn't have many proposals... McHale called him and proposed Casspi to play strech-4 in Houston (kind of "poor man Ryan Anderson"). Casspi agreed to sign 2-years min. vet. contract with only 1st year guaranteed. The result was I would say moderate success... But at the end of the year Rockets used him as filler in trade (with not guaranteed contract - so no buyout were needed on his release).
Casspi came to New Orleans and asked coach and GM what plans are for him. But they've seen him now as strech-4 ...and they had orginal Ryan Anderson. So the answer was: you report to the camp, and if we like what we see we'll sign you as 3rd-string PF (yes, after AD and Andeson...).
- But I'm SF first, I can play 3...
- Nope, we have enough SFs (Salmons and Co. actually)… And by the way certainly there's chance we'll just cut you after the camp.
- Oh... Ok. Can you then cut me right now so I'll try to find some team which may actually play me?
