Andre Drummond, 7-foot center, UConn: "Physically, he's off the charts. I personally don't like him, but it scares me to death to not like him. He's so big, agile and athletic, and by all accounts he's a great, great guy. I don't think he's immature, he's just underdeveloped. The question is whether he loves to play and how hard will he work. People forget he made his decision to go to UConn late and he had some NCAA issues, so he didn't get a normal preseason."

quote:

Austin Rivers, 6-3 guard, Duke: "My biggest concern with him is size. He's never going to be a pure point because it's not in his personality. He's a capable passer, but he hasn't been a willing passer. He's hard to play with, frankly, because he dominates the ball. It depends on who the coach is. I did not like what I saw at Duke. I thought he was spoiled and selfish. He's a streaky outside shooter, not a great one."

quote:

Tyler Zeller, 7-foot center, North Carolina: "Beast. I personally have him in the top seven. He's a 13- to 14-year NBA center. He can shoot, he's strong, he runs. Everybody complains they can never find a center. Well, here he is. There's absolutely no scenario where he's not going to succeed."

Only thing is with Drummond, is that every time I hear his name, it's generally followed by statements on his horrible work ethic.

Lillard is the best to pick at 10. He will be a great starting PG for us and is sooooo consistant.

Drummond is my second choice. He has the potential to be Dwight Howard. Monty can make him work hard and develop him.

Rivers is one of the last ppl I want. He is selfish, streaky, and is a SG. Monty can make you work hard but he cant make you less selfish. He reminds me of Kobe and even though Kobe may be good, he is not a team player. Monty I know only wants a team player and Rivers is not the guy.

he's no kobe...the only thing rivers is very good at is getting to the basket. he's not a sure thing to be able to do it in the nba, and it's not hard to get players who can

I'm a bit late to the discussion, but everything I have seen shows Rivers at 6-5 now and over 200lbs. I actually think he is projecting more as a SG, which eliminates alot of the question marks with him being a PG. The Hornets probably don't have a need, unless they move Gordon.

Rivers might be the best ball handler in the draft, so to say he is only good at one thing is false.

What if Gordon and Rivers become our Harden and Westbrook? Two 6`3-4 scoring guards that cohandle the points.

Also, the were comparing Rivers to Dwill on NBA TV tonight.. a lot of similarities

I hate, hate, hate the idea if drafting for "need". Does this team need a center? Yes. Will that center available at ten make this team a legit contender? Hell no.

The situation this tram is in requires taking BPA, which IMO is Rivers (if he's still on the board @ 10). If he reaches his potential this team will have 2 dynamic wing scorers, something this board has been screaming for since its been open...

OKC didn't draft for need when they took Harden and Westbrook, they took who they believed was the best player available... They're in a pretty good spot

So let me get this straight...

Drummond won't be good because of his college stats? So that matters now? Anthony Davis doesn't have the best college stats yet he's going #1. You don't draft based on stats.

Zeller and Leonard aren't going to be good NBA centers. Done deal. Thanks, Nostrodamus.

Damian Lillard is sooooo consistent and is going to be a great PG. Let me guess, he has awesome college numbers and looks great in his highlights on Youtube? (no shite, they are highlights).

Rivers isn't going to be because he's selfish. A SG who like to shoot? Crazy!

Great insight!

Similar size.. damn near identical percentages in college.

Comparable ball handling skills.
