Ok question... I thought he was a SG? Why would you draft him when you have EG at the 2?

Is he going to play PG in the NBA?

I don't think neither will drop to us, I believe we will be looking at the likes of Lamb, Ross, Leonard, Zellers at our pick. Jones lll and Sullinger dropping will hurt who drops to us. Unless you want to take one of them.

This has to be the worst sentence ever written...I can barely even tell what the dude is trying to say

If this team was a 8/8 center away from competing I would agree with you, but there are no legit scoring threats after Gordon on the roster... Taking Rivers, who I believe is the 2nd best offensive player in this draft, gives you a legit scoring threat for the future.

This team needs scorers

the team needs scoring...but if he can't play PG or SF, which i don't think he can, there won't be many minutes for him cause no one wants him taking minutes away from the best scorer and player on our team. he won't be a very good defender either

Quick scenario: We sign EG to max, he gets hurt, misses about 40 games, and we stretch to get a big that doesn't really pan out. At the very least you are developing a trade asset in Rivers.

I guess my main points are that 1)I am afraid that whatever big we draft will not develop into an effective starter; thus wasting a pick and 2) A guy like Rivers will be a true asset that will bring value to the team-Rivers is one of the most, if not most NBA-ready contributorsin this draft.

In recent memory, you just see way too many big men just not cut it.

the team needs a lot of things...we can get a scorer in free agency. Mediocre to good centers are too expensive in free agency. So drafting a good one would be way more valuable than a scoring sixth man...they grow on trees

I really wish Thursday would get here. I have changed my mind at who I would like for them to pick 100 fricking times

The good thing is that there are very few that I will disappointed with.

Rivers is no sure thing as far as being a legitimate NBA scorer...He could shoot 39% next season. Bigs bust, sure. but if we like one, we should get him, because bigs are more valuable

you mean like they have the past, oh 6 years?

Thats the problem... There are no "good" ones in this draft. Leonard and Zeller arent gonna develop into dominant centers. Sure they'll be decent options who porbably average 10/7 and play okay defense, but I dont think thats worth passing on arguably the most talented scorer in the entire draft

Drummond has potential.

we have cap room...it's not hard to sign a one dimensional sixth man

Do not want Rivers or Drummond, but I'd want Rivers first.

I hear you, I just don't want to end up getting a guy we can get at 15 at the 10 spot. I don't want to stretch for a big man just because we need one. BPA at this spot.

I don't necessarily think he will be a point guard, but could certainly play minutes at the 1.

He is most likely the most gifted scorer in this draft, I don't see how you could not want him on the team; bc he isn't a PG? So what? A good player can contribute regardless of position (and positions of need. Last I checked we have like 5 players under contract, 2-3 of which are 3rd-5th guys off the bench. We're building a team here and I think he would be an excellent piece.

Completely agree with you.

Been saying this for awhile -- Rivers is the only guy I really want being discussed on our board at 10.

Slightly off topic, but did yall see Seth Davis's column w/ scouts' opinions on draft eligible players?

They were scared to death of Drummond, not enamored with Rivers attitude/style, and loved Zeller.

Would link, but on phone. Definitely worth checking out if you have the time

good stuff...will go find it and link it. I have liked Zeller a lot since the tournament. He is lumped in with all the white American centers by a lot, but he has a very polished post game.
