quote:

Kris Dunn, 6'4" junior guard, Providence: "Love him. Concerned about his shoulder. He didn't go to Chicago and wouldn't submit to a physical. He's had two surgeries, so it's an issue. Special, special athlete. The shooting piece is the obvious weakness, but he can run a team. He'll make some crazy decisions with a tough pass sometimes, but you'd rather rein that in a little bit. He can guard anybody. He could be a star

quote:

Buddy Hield, 6'5" senior guard, Oklahoma: "I'm a huge Buddy Hield fan because of the importance of the three in today's NBA. The question is whether he can create a shot for himself. He's not a terrific ballhandler in more than two dribbles. The other question is, does he make everyone else around him better? Special person, worker, will represent your team well. I think he's J.J. Redick. Limited athlete and size, limited as a ballhandler and passer. Tad small for his position. I don't know that he has that much upside. He'll be somewhere in the top 10

quote:

Jamal Murray, 6'5" freshman guard, Kentucky: "Textbook jumper. The question is whether he can play point guard, which he didn't do at Kentucky. He's a big-time scorer, and he has stepped up at every level, including against grown men in the Pan-Am Games. He's not an unbelievable athlete, and he's not a very good defender right now. He's unbelievably confident, borderline arrogant, which is good. I don't think he's 6'5". He does something that our league loves, which is get buckets.

Pretty much my sentiments on these 3

Also, like what he had to say about some guys we could possibly grab late

Love Dunn. That pick is a lay-up. No way he is there at 6.

My concern with Dunn is our training staff.

I still don't get the mad love Murray gets from some people on here. I don't dislike him at all, he just doesn't excite me either. He reminds me of Austin Rivers but with a shot.

Dunn is exciting. The shoulder is a concern with our history but I think he can be a big time player.

Jaylen Brown, 6'7" freshman forward, California: "Biggest mystery in the draft. What does he do? He's an average ballhandler. He's a below average shooter. In AAU and college he played bully ball, but that doesn't translate to the NBA. Little bit of a funky personality. I don't know that anybody really knows what makes that kid tick. His basketball IQ is lacking. Special physical specimen and athlete. The trouble is when you make him go multiple directions. His last month and a half was awful. Makes me really nervous."

Fair enough, but does Hield excite you?

Yeah, I know where you are going with this, I've already heard it several times.

Yes I like Hield more than Murray, but that has more to do with how I perceive Hield as a player. Murray certainly has more upside.

And I don't understand how people don't love Murray. He is so clearly a top 3 prospect in this draft in my mind.

I guess we can see who was right in 3 or 4 years. No way it's getting settled now

Brown just reeks of a guy I'd like us to avoid. On paper he looks good, but way too many red flags. He's the definition of a boom or bust lottery pick. Not sure this front office can afford a bust though, so I doubt they take him. If we were more stable, I'd be more open to it.

I wanted Dunn when we got the pick, but I don't see him being there now

I don't think he'll be that good ever, but I do think he's the most NBA ready guy outside of Simmons and will be a top 5 guy from this draft

I want him the most, which means we need some combo of bender Murray Hield or Chriss to go. I think it's possible he falls

Phoenix? Don't see them taking Dunn
Boston? Unless they can pull a trade Would they take Dunn?
Minny? They are a wildcard as they can go in multiple directions

and I hope you're right because I think there is a high chance he is the pick.

As I said I don't dislike him. I'm just a bit lukewarm, but open to be convinced. He's just that great an athlete, not a good defender, I'm not sure what his position is or where he plays in the NBA, etc.

He's got shooting potential and he's only 19. I'm open. he's just not my favorite.

Nate Duncan and Mike Schmitz from DX do a pod on Simmons/Ingram, then sort of mock picks 3-7 of the draft while breaking down Dunn, Murray, Brown, Chriss, Bender.

LINK

They have the Pels taking Brown over Murray/Hield. Schmitz has him as his 6th best prospect, but says he could see Murray going there too.

I'm not wild about Brown, but not as down as most Pels fans seem to be. Potential as a small ball 4 next to Davis is interesting

Which is also two of Hield's knocks, except he's 22.

Someone will say "he's a hard worker" or "he wants to win"... Then I'll ask, do we know which prospects don't check those boxes ? Does Murray not want to win or work hard?

If we can't get Dunn we should take Brown.

that would be an above average NBA player worthy of a top 10 pick
