I like the "reasonable" offseason plan Fisher at TBW came up with. Replace Ryno with someone like Terrence Jones. Take a flyer on an athletic defensive wing that's at the right age to blossom soon like Solomon Hill. I'd also throw in dumping Cunningham and replacing him with Jared Dudley. Dudley's a better shooter and he's at that age where he's started playing the small ball 4 more often so if you sign Dudley then Cunningham becomes a waste of $3 million.

I'd be very happy with that. Draft a Dunn or Heild. Have a lot of flexibility and money next offseason with a roster that makes a lot more sense on paper.

Its also makes sense and shows some patience, which means there's no way in freaking hell that Demps does it.

Just saw the contracts Fisher would give to Hill and Jones. Yikes.

Can't see Hill getting that even in the new cap.

Oh well yeah.

I misread the Hill deal. Its for 4 years not 3. My bad.

Yeah, if the MLE had actually been tied to the rising cap these numbers wouldn't seem as shocking. When the cap hits $108 million, the old $5.8 million MLE that Trevor Ariza got way back when would be $10.7 under the new cap.

I don't care if the cap is a 150 million dollars. I read it as 11 million for Solomon Hill, which would be absurd.

Hill is a guy with very little in the way of stats, very little production, and hasn't proven a whole lot. He's all a gamble. 7-9 million is even a lot for him but I'd be willing to take that risk. If Demps gave him 11 per I would be outside of Airline Drive protesting.

Yeah, that would be. And I agree with the rest of what you said. Just because other D wings have become 3 and D wings in their mid to late 20s doesn't mean Hill will.

consider even decent players at other positions this past year are making <5mil, giving him that much is ridiculous.

lin and biyombo being the two biggest names on REALLY cheap contracts.

He probably is basing that off of Aminu, but you're right, Hill is much less proven than Aminu, and Aminu only got a minimum deal after he faded out here. Playing well for Carlisle got him the deal he has now. Still, there is going to be too much money chasing too few players this season, and if you want to lock him up for 3-4 years you're going to need to pay him more than the minimum. If you believe in him I don't think giving him Ajinca money is ridiculous, and with the cap escalation that starts about $5.5-$6. If you can get him for $3, great, but if it costs a little more that's fine too. It's past time to start developing a young SF with 1st round talent.
