Gay would be an alright fit, but I would hate giving up a 1st for a 10 year vet who isn't getting this team to a higher level. I'd prefer him over Young for his defense and shooting, but similar problems there too.

Like cgrand said, the slow start makes moving a pick seem like a terrible idea. It's likely a lottery pick, maybe a top 10 pick when the season ends. I'm not moving that for 2015 Rudy Gay or Thaddeus Young.

I know this was a piece meant to answer fan questions and not what you think the Pels should do. People talk about the "treadmill of mediocrity." Cashing out early 1sts for name, non difference maker vets is one way to get there.

ETA: One guy that might be available that would be an interesting get is Ty Lawson. Been an awful fit in Houston and he's got bigger off court issues too. But, if (a big if right now) he's playing like he can, he will be the best passer/creator Davis has ever played with and should be dynamite in Gentry's offense.

I would imagine Anderson would have to be part of a deal- maybe a 3 teamer with PHX and Morris heads to Houston. The Pels would be in some real trouble on the frontline though.

If we become somewhat healthy, which i think we are getting very close to it, and still get a top 10 pick, then we have bigger problems and need a new coach as well.

that would start some dominos falling on HOU roster though...particularly terrence jones. how would you feel swapping anderson & a first for lawson & jones? (obviously, jones in the offseason...current season would be toast)

I'd think about it right now. Lawson, to me, is the get. It's a hell of a wager that he can be the player he was. But if you hit on him, the Pels ceiling just got a little higher.

ETA- The way Houston is sinking and Lawson is playing, it might not take a first. They are desperate to right the ship. If so, lottery protect the hell out of it. They can't miss the playoffs and not keep their first this summer.

I love Anderson and his offense. I love that he has come back after a miserable couple of years. I love the Anderson/Davis pairing, but a locked in Lawson can bring them to a higher gear in a way that Anderson can't.

very interesting scenario...
just to take it farther, they'd let gordon expire, in your view?

so:

lawson
holiday
evans
guard TBD (smith?)
pondexter
cunningham
wing TBD (gee?)
davis
jones
asik
ajinca

that doesn't look too bad; thats 2-deep at every position with real NBA players, and the potential to be top- 5 on offense, yes?

Anderson might get you Lawson if rockets can't turn it around
they'd keep the pick or heavily protect it
we are all just speculating in any case

I wouldn't be against bringing him back; just depends on how much $$ Gordon would want. Somewhere in the $10-$12M (of a $90M cap) range for his skill set seems fair.

The guy who probably doesn't fit in this completely hypothetical scenario is Evans. Not sure he and Lawson could work together. I do like Holiday being more of a secondary ball handler full time though.

Still a hole for the Pels in the big wing/small ball 4 spot. Very guard heavy here. But I just think they have to hedge against Holiday's health. He might just need to be a 25MPG player to preserve his health.
