OG is good and under long term contract as of now (4 seasons) but he isn’t a superstar level player worth that cost.
Is Spotrac missing something? It shows that he has a player option after this season.

I looked at the wrong line and saw Jakob Poetel’s deal, not OG’s.

If a European team doesn’t want Mirotic then why would an nba team want him?

Wish we could afford him to lure him over. Not going to happen though.

Has nothing to do with his play. He had the highest salary in the euro league. At his age, they're not looking to pay him top dollar and I doubt he's looking to take a much lesser contact at this time.

He'll be 33 and been 5 years since he's been in the NBA.

and he's still a great 3 point shooter at a position of need for us.
I'm sure the only way he'd come back is for something like $5-8M.
I'd gladly take him back for a year, if we could fit him into our under the tax budget, which we cannot.

I would throw the rest of the MLE we have available to us and also trade for Garuba
CJ / Jose
Herb / Dyson / Hawkins
BI / Trey / Naji
Zion / Mirotic
Val / Zeller / Garuba
Seabron, Nolley on two-ways

According to Stein, Pels have interest in Rudy Gay
Posted on 7/21/23 at 1:24 pm to BallHawk
I can see why. He's been playing PF the last couple of seasons. Would be a good fit while Liddell earns his minutes.

We have desperately needed a backup 4 for a couple of years now. But Gay has been pretty brutal, not sure I love that being the answer.

I wouldn't call Gay an answer for anything. He's a vet who can give you minutes at the position as a stopgap. EJ Liddell should be the answer you're looking for but he may not be 100% ready at the start of the season as he'll need to get back into game conditioning, transition to the NBA speed and learn the scheme as well as learn how to play with his teammates. These things take time especially if you consider him a rookie which he pretty much is.
Posted on 7/21/23 at 3:18 pm to supe12sta12z
Gay is 37 and shot 38% from the field and 25% from the 3 last season.
Anything other than the Garrett Temple role from a minutes/games played perspective should be a no go. We should prefer the complete unknown of 2nd rounder Liddell getting all the minutes we'd theoretically earmark for Gay.

Because he has the size that most our wings don't. He's basically Temple by the time Liddell is completely ready which shouldn't be too long. He'd basically be a 15th guy. Nance doesn't even play PF for us so I doubt he's in the equation when you talk about the PF position.
Not many guys are going to sign here to play that type of role especially when you're basically looking to sign a minimum contract. Not even sure Gay would even consider that.
You can say you rather an unknown but they clearly want another vet at this point.

Wood is still available. I've seen that he is linked to either the Bulls or Lakers. His value is in the toilet. Super talented but hes supposedly a bad team guy and will not follow assignments. Lakers can only give him 2.5M, unless the Mavs do a S&T (Vanderbilt).
I'm actually kind of surprised how well the Mavs did this offseason. I thought they were stuck but they actually added some depth. It all hinges on Irving, but it could be a solid team if that duo starts to mesh..

Where’s the proof that he’s a bad locker room guy?!?!
There’s no proof!!!
Guys who put up an efficient 16.5/7.5 always have to settle for league minimum contracts.

If the front office wants a veteran PF, I wouldn’t hate looking at Markieff Morris (although I would rather go younger)…34, former champ, decent shooter for a 4. His efficiency has fallen off, but I would rather him than Gay.
I still would rather see the Pels find a way to give Trendon Watford a look on the cheap though…younger, showed some good potential, local background guy. Even a second look at Wenyan Gabriel would probably be preferable too.
