You think the Blazers would prefer a 1st rounder from the Pels (and having to buy out Jonas) over Jovic and Hyland?

They already have 2345 guards on their roster, they don’t want to add another one. They would also want to turn some players into future picks because as you may or may not know, there’s only 15 roster spots on a team.

Sorry, but I think you are making up trades to improve the Pels without thinking through the logic. Jovic would be a very good addition to a young Blazers team (and Hyland supposedly is not available unless for a star player). They could easily do better without the Pels involved in that deal.

Total sidebar conversation, but it sickens me that I have to work my whole life and add up my salary to be the 5th lowest paid person on that YEARLY salary list.

The guys on the bench get to practice basketball for a living, travel to other cities, hang out with basketball stars, and get front row seats to all the games.

Headline at RealGM - “Pelicans, Raptors weren’t willing to trade Zion, Siakam, or Anunoby for #3 on draft day.”

No shite. Any deal for that pick would have involved a lot more assets going out than just the pick.

What are the Raptors doing?

Their roster makes no sense. Siakham just is not that guy. Good player, possibly top 25ish. But not a Superstar and they aren't winning anything with him as the focal point. Anonuby is too expensive, especially for a 3rd option. He shouldn't be getting near max money. I dont think Barnes is anything special either. They let their best player walk for nothing. They should have started their rebuild this offseason..

They'll likely get more in Feb when teams who are competing will go all in.

The answer seems to be “Ujiri is overvaluing his assets again.”

The Raptors need to start a rebuild but Siakam doesn’t want to re-sign with anyone he gets traded to and they wanted way too fricking much for OG at the deadline last season.

Yeah, OG for Scoot straight up would’ve been a steal to me for Toronto.

I don’t understand what sort of value Ujiri thinks he has.

There's no way that Toronto is so stupid that they wouldn't trade OG for the #3 pick, straight up. Surely this leak is just trying to repair or sure up that relationship.

I’m thinking this was on Portland’s side to try and claim they tried to get Dame help but it wasn’t happening.

Will they though? Most big blockbuster trades happen in the summer. Plus he’s an expiring contract which means that not only could he be just a rental, but if they don’t trade him in the summer, the acquiring team can’t do an extension. They can obviously have a handshake agreement in place, but that’s much more of a risk at the deadline.

There is a ton of talk around Atlanta putting together a package for Siakham. He's better than Collins, but not that much better. Plus the compensation they are mentioning is a ton. Like all the young pieces. I just don't see Young, Murray and Siakham making a deep run..

Atlanta doesn’t have anything to trade in terms of picks.

They would have to send out roughly $38m in salary, which likely focuses on De’Andre Hunter ($20m) as the centerpiece.

Siakam is much much better than Collins. You’re talking about a 2 time all nba guy vs a guy that’s never made an all star team. The spacing would be weird but it’s a huge talent upgrade

I'll eat my hat if the Raptors get a prospect or package better than Scoot for OG in February.

There's no chance that was an actual offer on the table so I guess it's kind of a moot point.

I wouldn’t assume this, at the deadline last offseason it was rumored that Ujiri wanted 4 1sts and a good player for OG. They are seriously overvaluing him.

Agreed.

OG is good and under long term contract as of now (4 seasons) but he isn’t a superstar level player worth that cost.

He may have the potential to be a superstar but as of now he would be OKC Harden as opposed to Houston Harden.
