Lots of good answers here but I heard the Smashing Pumpkins cover of Landslide the other day and it genuinely made my balls ache.
I actually think that version is decent. The guitar work is very good. Is the original better? Sure, but worse has been done like:
A Perfect Circle - Imagine

two that they play the hell out of on the radio are absolute trash...
Careless Whisper by Seether and Smooth Criminal by Alien Ant Farm.
by no means is the original Careless Whisper anything classic, but part of what makes the song sort of appealing is the soft saxophone hook and cheesy 80's pop sound...doesn't work as a rock angst
and the original Smooth Criminal is such a staple of the Michael Jackson catalog that you can't touch it, especially when you try to "punk" it up. I have enjoyed many classic rock/oldies/disco/pop songs over the years that have been redone by punk/pop bands which added an edge to the song, but this is not one of them!

Some piano player that frequently plays at Lafitte's is a big APC junkie and plays this a lot. It's pretty miserable.

if that's not an attempt at humor then there has never been a response more worthy of an /thread comment.

There's a 'Zydeco-Country' version of The Boys are Back in Town by Thin Lizzy, but I can't find it. It was done by some "local artist" here in S. Louisiana (not a known artist), may be the worst I've ever heard. Still looking, will post if I can find it.

Guns n' Roses version of Sympathy for the Devil is one of the worst covers ever. And if you think about it, it should be pretty good.
I love David Bowie, but his version of Across the Universe is awful. Nowhere near as good as the original or even Fiona Apple's version

Also, their horrible remake of Behind Blue Eyes by The Who

Maybe I'll be vilified here for this but Ryan Adams' recent T Swift covers are mostly terrible. I love Ryan Adams but didn't like this album very much.

if you can't handle Snoop covering Metallica, how about Limp Bizkit - Sanitarium from that same show

Sounds a lot like that Avril Lavigne cover.

Not even close to the worst. The album is hit or miss on the covers, but nothing I'd say is absolutely terrible.

Meh. I thought they did a decent job with that. I certainly like it better than the original.

If you think Let it Go from Frozen is a POS Disney tune, then this cover by the Rascal Flatts would surely be on Satan's "recently added" playlist.

As much as I hated Limp Bizkit, I actually always thought that was the one song they did that didn't suck balls.
