I've heard a few phish songs and I like their sound. I checked Spotify and they have like 30 albums. where should I start?

Thanks. I usually just start with a bands first album and work my way up, but it would take a few months for phish

on spotify,

I'd either start with Rift for a studio album or A Live On if you are looking for live.

edit:

LINK /

this site has aud recordings of most (all?) of their shows.

there's also a fan-made compilation titled Phish Destroys America which is a must have.

I would think starting with Junta and Lawn Boy would be a great way to start.

11/28/94 Tweezer

if you don't like this you don't like Phish and you should just quit now

that is about as accessible as they get right there

Nothing says accessible like a 44 minute tweezer.

I picked up several of their albums. Billy Breathes is the only one that really stuck, very solid quasi concept album for a jam band.

By far the best studio album IMO.

The Dallas, TX show from 1993 at The Bomb Factory usually ranks high amongst the enlightened. It was released as a complete show/CD in the Live Phish series.

As studio albums go, I am partial to "A Picture of Nectar" from 1992. There are many concert standards from this album....Tweezer/reprise, Stash, Cavern, Chalkdust Torture, Llama, Poor Heart, and Manteca (part of "Punch You in the Eye" now)...to name a few.

Studio - Rift or A Picture Of Nectar

Live - A Live One

There are a few fall/winter 95 shows on Spotify as well, and they all smoke.

A Live One is usually a good start. I always loved listening to that Wilson because the crowd was so loud. The Hampton '09 Harry Hood reminded me a lot of it.

A Live One is to Phish as Carnival 99 is to SCI, Rockin' the Rhein is to tGD, Panic in the Streets is to WSP, and so on imo.
