I jumped right into the live stuff with the island tour and was hooked almost right away but I was already a big jambland fan before that so idk if that's a good idea for most.

As far as all of the ones I listed being a good quality show to start with, I don't see what is so funny.

A Live One is a compilation released right before the band's popularity exploded.

Rockin the Rhein is one concert that was released a decade after Jerry died.

It's not that it isn't a good listen, they just aren't comparable.

In some aspects maybe. But as far as the topic at hand, they are easily comparable when discussing good starting points for Phish and other bands in that category.

It was 1994 and I was thinking of the Landlady instead of Manteca---shite starts to run into one another when you cross the 40 threshold...
