Personally, I think they are misunderstood. People look at them as sort of a mid-90s jam-band. That is wrong. Dave Matthews Band is a Southern Jazz/Rock fusion band in the vein of the Marshall Tucker, the Allman Brothers before Duane died, and Derek Trucks Band. Honestly, you would be hard pressed to find better albums than Under the Table and Dreaming and Crash, and Busted Stuff is a criminally under appreciated album as well. And that's just their studio stuff. To me, DMB is one of the all time greats!

Ive wanted to be a Dave Matthews fan for so long. I respect the band, but his voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me. I just can't do it.

Red rocks and Luther college are all I can handle now. Plenty of hot chicks at the shows though.

No matter how stoned you get, DMB does not rock

They're all extremely talented and have one of the best drummers of all time in Carter Beauford. They made jam music popular again and are awesome live. I don't know why they get so much hate.

I became a fan at a time when I was young and just starting to play music. Obviously their drummer is ridiculous and had a huge impact on me. I had the opportunity to see them live twice and it was awesome. They've got several songs that I will never tire of listening to. On the other hand they do have some songs that I flat out do not like and don't enjoy listening to.

Now, years later, I still enjoy their music and will listen to them from time to time, and purchase a new studio album when they release them. I understand how people can be so passionate about them, and also how people can be so vocal in the opposite direction as well.

All in all, I would say one of my favorite bands of all time, not Top 3 or anything, but still pretty high up there.

Eta: the addition of Jeff Coffin on horns has been great, as I have been a huge fan of his music for a long time.

Their version of "All Along The Watchtower" is the single worst cover I have ever heard

For that alone I hope they are all assraped by AIDS-test monkeys

I like them. Dave is the worst in the band. Singing is a little annoying. He looks like he has a turd stuck most of the time. The rest of the band is great though. They would be huge without Matthews.

his band is talented, Matthews is another boring white guy with an acoustic guitar.

Where does Carter rank on the all time drummer list as far as talent?

He has to be pretty high. Dude is on another planet.

This pretty much. They are like Bluegrass music to me. Vocals are kind of annoying but to say that Dave or DMB suck is just inaccurate. Like bluegrass. Ricky Skaggs voice makes me want to cut myself, but his playing and his players are incredible.

Saw DMB live in the 90's. And had zero desire to see them. The girls that I went with were hot, so I persevered. Halfway through the show I remember thinking how good they were and how close what they were doing was to the recordings.

I don't like John Mayer either, but I can appreciate that he's a badass on the guitar.

Beauford is up there man. He is pretty much universally respected. I remember being blown away the first I saw a video of him playing. First time I had ever seen someone play open handed before.

Dave will tell you this straight up. He knows he's the least talented musician in the band and he knows he's not the best singer in the world. With that said, he can write songs and music with the best of them and no one in the band can touch him in that regard.

You're right. I've heard him say how lucky he is that those top shelf musicians would want to play with him.

I know I'm in the minority of TD, but I like DMB a lot.
They're one of my favorite bands to see live.

I own none of their music and will be quite content if I never hear any of their tunes again.

And I can say the same thing about U2.

I really am not sure why, it just doesn't grab me I guess. I think we all have bands like this. These are two of mine.
