I'll second Landslide by The Dixie Chicks and add Turn the Page by Metallica.

Van Halen's cover of Roy Orbison's "Pretty Woman" off of Diver Down is good. I also like GnR's cover of Bob Dylan's "Knocking On Heaven's Door".

I haven't read any of this thread yet so that I won't be swayed by what popped into my head as my favourite cover...

The Model - Snakefinger
The Model - Kraftwerk (the original)

The youtube Kraftwerk version has better audio, but I like Snakefinger's cover far better.

A close second goes to Devo, covering Are You Experienced? I love the vid when Hendrix pops out of his coffin at 2:00

"Straight Up" Paula Abdul by Me First & The Gimme Gimmes

LINK

There cover of Jolene is pretty good also.

Alien Ant Farm "Smooth Criminal" was awesome

I prefer Corgans "landslide" cover to Dixie Chicks

"Boys Of Summer" was amazing

There was an obscure metal band that did a cover of "Maniac" that was pretty good

Chris Cornell's Billie Jean has to be at or near the top of my list.
