My buddy who introduced me to Turnpike Troubadours is a Bossier City guy, and I'm actually hearing them get a good bit of play here in ATX (on the local radio as well as at a college bar near UT)

In turn, I pointed him to Keller (Williams) and the Keels:
2010 album "Theif" via Spotify
2005 album Grass via Spotify

And this one may be getting more outside the jam band realm, but it's similar...

Jackie Greene, one of my favorite musicians, is teaming up with the Black Crowes drummer Steve Gorman, Joan Osborne (the "What if god was one of us..." singer), Tom Bukovac and Nick Govirk to form the band Hippy Trigger.

quote:

According to The Memphis Commercial Appeal, the bands material draws “…heavily from the members’ shared love of R&B and soul — lots of Al Green and Stax, some old blues covers and a little bit of Led Zeppelin and Little Feat thrown in for good measure.”

from Hippy Trigger's website

annnnd, you can stream that whole new album here.
