6/23/00 review so far..

Ya Mar - Meh. I like Ya Mar but they jam it out too much, and this just doesn't go anywhere. C+

My Soul - One of my least favorite Phish songs. I tuned out midway through it. D-

Almost to the crunchy part of Gin and y'all have me excited. Gonna hit pause and go piss and fill my Nalgene with water.

Gin was legit. No idea how I don't remember it. A

Back On the Train was bad..read bad. D-

David Bowie was good. One of my favorites of theirs. B

Cars Trucks Buses was bad, but I also really don't like the song. C-

Farmhouse was okay. Don't hate it, but don't love it. B-

Overall, first set was about how I remembered it, save for the Gin. I'd have given it a D+, but with the Gin, it gets a C+.

And I'm not confirming or denying any of the picture guesses.

Skipped over every song in the 2nd set except Rock & Roll(which wasn't as good as I remembered) and Down With Disease, which they didn't finish and it was still 17+ minutes of mostly pointless noodling.

Pretty meh show except for the Gin and a decent David Bowie. D+ overall.

I wonder what you would think of an average 3.0 show

Yeah, my grade is pretty harsh, but I just wasn't a big fan of what they were doing in 2000. They had some good shows in that era, but most just didn't do much for me.

Nowadays they're mostly just a nostalgia act with only one or two outstanding shows a tour. I wouldn't say they're just going through the motions as the playing is still excellent, but they just don't take the chances night in and night out like they used to.

Give me 93-97 Phish. Everything else pales in comparison.

I find 93-96 phish boring. Too mich trey jacking off on stage. 97-99 is more my speed. Better group improvisation and jams imo. 98 island tour might be the peak of the band to me.

I was at the BJCC shows back in 95. They were right after the Memphis shows.

I remember the usual "deader than everyone else" guy was saying that because they opened with Shakedown in Memphis and Feels Like A Stranger in B-ham, that Memphis would become a regular summer tour date.

Little did any of us know there would only be 30 or so more shows.
