I agree I think the best sounding and cohesiveness was in 77

While not a great fan of either band, I would answer the OP's question as "an appreciation of musicianship." Those cats can play whether you like their music or not.

Deadheads and Phans are the only fanbases that take drugs. Ever.

It's like a cult following. Jimmy Buffett falls into that category as well with the parrot heads.

'72 might be my favorite year personally, but i can't disagree.

I didn't even know there was such a thing until the 90s... All I ever had was regular old ditch weed, maybe a little skunk weed here and there..

I like working man's dead and american beauty a lot, I can't be bothered by the rest really... those are solid records..

Well one you get a handle on their studio albums you start to appreciate the live recordings more IMO. I think most dead heads appreciate that every time they went or listened to a live show it was different. No one else was really doing that at the time. They have so many different era's and sounds in their 30 year career. I can't imagine anyone not liking them only because the Grateful Dead was what put me to sleep at night as a infant haha.

The Dead was an extremely talented group of musicians and is one of the GOAT bands of all time.
Phish is an average at best group of jerkoffs who suck at everything.

Y'all motherfrickers are crazy. I can certainly understand not liking them, but saying they suck is hilarious. Live music is no fricking joke, even if they over noodle.

They certainly don't suck, but even smoking weed and doing shrooms they wouldn't do it for me. Different strokes...
