I never was a huge fan of them, but listening to a few of their songs now like Digital Bath, Change, Minerva, etc., and I'm liking what I am hearing. Guess it's taking me a while to get into them.

What do yall think of Deftones and any of yall have any other favorite songs/albums/shows by them?

And their song Passenger they sing with Maynard is really really good too.

I heard Adrenaline when it first came out and didn't like. I did like Around the Fur though and I think it might still be my favorite album of theirs. Diamond Eyes and Ohms are great too.

I really like them. They’re heavy, melodic in an 80s way and Chino has a great voice.
Next time they come to Nola/Houston/Atlanta I’m going to see them.
Adrenaline was pretty good and White Pony is the album that really put them on the map. They’ve done a lot of good shite over the years - Prayers/Triangles and Genesis are two recent excellent tunes.
They’ve also done a lot of great covers over the years - “If Only Tonight We Could Sleep” by The Cure and “Simple Kind of Man” by Skynrd are two of the best.

One of my Top 3 bands of all time.

Saw them live for the first time when I was in 8th grade. I'm 40 now and saw them again for the 12th time last year.

Not my thing. So much of their music feels like horny background noise. It just doesn’t grab me and make me pay attention.

The first 3 albums are fantastic but I can see why it’s not for everyone

Chino does a lot of screaming and you need closed captioning for his lyrics

They have some damn good songs and alot of bad songs.

Chinos voice can be too whiney at times.

Fun fact the drummer Abe has never played with a double pedal.

Deftones are pretty unique. They occupy a hazy space somewhere between hardcore, post rock, emo, and shoegaze. Love them or hate them, no one else sounds like them. I don't listen to them all the time, but when I'm in the mood nothing else will do.

White Pony is an incredible album from start to finish.

My favorite band and I’ve been hooked since White Pony. Their live shows can be hit or Miss. I’ve also discovered so many other artist because of them as well.

Check out the band Loathe. They’re a newer band that is very Deftones-esque

They're really hit or miss for me. Their high quality stuff is insanely good, but their bad stuff is trash. White Pony, Diamond Eyes, and Koi No Yokan are their 3 best albums, lots of great tracks

They're absolute trash live though. Their big, overproduced sound does not translate well to live performance

I never see anyone else praising KNY but to me it is the purest, most well-made version of their sound

I like 3 or 4 songs on it but don't care for the most.

I know that's a fan favorite but I came to be Deftones fan later in their careers and didn't grow with them like a lot of their fanbase

White Pony is a front to back album. Back to School has always been my favorite song. Head up with Max Cavalera is an awesome track to. Another bucket list band

I agree with others they are definitely better on their albums

I’ve seen them three or four times and Chino does not have the voice anymore. You can’t understand anything he saying.

Yeah, even though KNY is my favorite, White Pony is the definitive Deftones experience and what I would send to someone if they were trying to get into them and see what they were about

Really thought the Deftones sucked when I was a teenager. Just seemed like a lame version of Korn, and Tool thrown in a blender trying too hard to be edgy and faux introspective. Back to School? Awful*. Be Quiet and Drive? Ripoff of Chevelle’s Send the Pain Below**. Pass

Then in 2021, someone forced me to listen to Entombed from Koi No Yokan. I don’t know if I was in the right frame of mind in the right atmosphere or what, but that song hit me like a 10 ton anvil. Right then, Deftones finally FINALLY clicked for me and now they’re in my top 10 favorite bands of all time. Consistently in my top songs / artist on Spotify Wrapped. KNY and Diamond Eyes stay cranked in my home office.

*this song still sucks, but the band themselves even admits it was something the label forced

**my dumb arse later figured out that I had the “rip off” backwards this whole time. Still like Chevelle, however.
