The most glaring example in my humble opinion , however, is Phil Collins. Extremely underrated and underappreciated as a front man for Genesis and as a solo artist. No musician that successful has caught as much unwarranted hate as he has. I love Peter Gabriel as a musician and front man but Genesis not only maintained when he left, they thrived under Phil Collins.

I'll give Phil Collins his due for his work in Brand X but Genesis withered artistically after Gabriel left and even more so when Steve Hackett left.

I'd have to put Robert Palmer on here. The man put out some really poppy tunes in the late 70s early 80s which is what he will be remembered for but Sneaking Sally, Pressure Drop, and Some People Can Do What they Like were all phenomenal albums.

For sure. The opening 3 tracks to Sneakin Sally are as good as it gets. The Meters and Lowell George meshed perfectly with Palmer's vocals.

It is and they've been playing it a good bit on XM Deep Tracks.

I also liked Power Station way back when.

I always liked Chicago and then I saw them live in 2011 and loved them. One heck of a show. All the brass was incredible.

I'll tell you another great show to watch live is Hall & Oates. Those guys are so professional and have their show down to perfection. Watched them the last 3 years at Chastain Amp in Atlanta and we get a table up near the stage for 4. It's is one of the shows they allow you to bring in your own good and liqueur, wine, beer and food. Keep checking every week to see what date they announce.

I would recommend watching Hall & Oates Live 2003- Full Concert on YouTube. A little over halfway, Daryl Hall sings a version of Me and Mrs. Jones that is the most soulful and best I have ever heard.

Well they're not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And while you may not feel they are underrated, they are largely forgotten which was one of the conditions mentioned in the Subject of this thread.

they were on the cover of ROLLING STONE in 19 MFing 69

they were also the essential prototype for punk rock in america

believe me, anyone familiar with garage rock, rock and roll, and punk rock, knows who the MC5 were
