Funny Story...

The Student Government at Tarleton State in Stephenville, TX, the Cowboy Capital of the World, had him come play a free concert for students and $10 tickets for anyone else the summer of 2004. It was marketed really heavy all over town. Only about 120-150 people showed up. He commented after the 2nd song, "Did you guys tell anyone there is a concert tonight?"

It was pretty sad. He gave a good show, but the auditorium was empty.

I love me some Tracy. Tough thing when deciding is that his earlier albums were loaded from top to bottom with great songs other than his big hits. I literally have a 50-song Tracy playlist on my phone filled with my favorites from each album.

If I had to pick one, it would be Cant Break It To My Heart.

Everyone in this thread knows his greatest hits. Here are some of his songs that dont get as much play that I absolutely love:
One Step Ahead Of The Storm (Saw him recently in Ft Worth and he opened up with this song)
Different Man
It's Hard To Be An Outlaw
The Coast Is Clear
I Hit The Ground Crawlin'
From The Inside Out
Far Cry From You

Edit: From one of his latest albums, The Singer is really good! Better than anything on mainstream country radio now, IMO. Its a shame it doesnt get played, it gives me chills:
The Singer

I like the Singer.

My only knock on Tracy is that, in my opinion, he doesn't seem to have great range. Maybe an in-depth review of his body of work would make me think otherwise, but am not interested in doing that at the moment.

What I'm getting at is I don't think he's all that great at the low-tempo sad love songs that say, Strait and Brooks, were good at.

This. One of my all-time favorite songs. Texas Tornado is pretty damned good too.

Texas Tornado brings me back to High Scool. Prom date that loved this song, and we proceeded to round 2nd into 3rd base as that song was on repeat.

I like most of his stuff, but I HATE "Time Marches On". Not sure why, I know that's one of his biggest hits

While I dont "hate" Time Marches On, I agree that it isnt one of my favorites. Out of all of his big hits, TMO is probably my least favorite.

If he came to Auburn, we would come pretty close to filling up the arena. Just depends on the demographics of the campus.

Alibis, Time Marches On, and I See it Now are my favorites. I've always enjoyed Renegades Rebels and Rogues and Sticks and Stones as well.

I met him a few times in the 90's in his hometown in Arkansas. He always went out of his way to chat with folks, and that was at the peak of his popularity.

I'll have to go with "if the world had a front porch." It's one of the first songs I remember hearing as a young'un.
