Playing at the show. I'd certainly pay to see it

Add Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, too.

Another legend gone

RIP !!!!!

quote:

Not BBs song, but one he definitely made it his own is 3 o Clock Blues. Gary Clark Jr. does an outstanding cover of that. I'd throw him in the mix of tribute performers

Fwiw, "the thrill is gone" isn't his original song either....

On Facebook, Eric Clapton posted a video this morning in which he says of King:

quote:

“His music is almost a thing of the past now. There are not many left that play it in the pure way that BB did.”

So, who all y'all got as the few remaining artists carrying on the tradition and genre?

I saw him in the '70s when I was stationed in Japan. Hell of an entertainer and the best guitar player ever. I hope they bury Lucille with him.

They probably won't...there have been several "Lucilles" through the years.

When I got to interview him, it was in Baton Rouge. Buddy and I got to go into his dressing room, and it was just us and him for about 10 min, then Boogaloo walked in with a couple of honeys...it was entertaining to watch BB talk with the ladies

Those are great performers, for sure. But, I think the part of what Clapton said that stands out to me is the part "in the pure way that BB did." Something about the real bluesy vocals is what I'm not sure those guys have (but I don't know their discographies as well as I could). I'm talking about the way BB sings and the way Robert Johnson sings. Clark feels closer in my mind than Mayer or White for sure.

Muddy Waters was buried with his Telecaster.

I knew this day was coming soon...'ol B.B. was getting up there in age. He was a true gentleman and a blues legend.

Gonna play some BB tonight on the rig.

Rest in Peace, Mr. King.

Been a while since the death of a musician brought a tear to my eye, that happened this morning when I read about his death. Well spoken and great tone. On top of that I always liked listening to him sing, good voice on top of it all.
