I guess I should have been less sarcastic for the ones with their meter off.

When I said it was a great question I guess you missed where I said Metallica and Matt Nathanson would be a better question.

Yep. So what

Blue Oyster Cult

if I actually said I don't like them, I misstated. I don't find them to be that good is what I thought I said. Again, so what if I don't like them.

I think the Dead is horrible and only a "fool" thinks otherwise. This is a bit tongue in cheek, but do you see how it works? Meaningless statements that are just opinion. Great thing about art.

It is just as easy to claim you are "brainwashed" as it is to claim I "don't get it."

The point is that your statement is stupid and my followup is just as stupid.

Steely Dan vs Journey

Bad pairing. Both bands play entirely different styles music.

For those hating on Journey it’s because you didn't live through that era. Like them or not they created anthems and classic hits that are still around and being used today in other media.

This. But if I have to choose between the two, Steely Dan.

I lived through that era -- I'd rather shove icepicks through my eardrums than listen to them again

Actually they weren't all that big, certainly not on the level of Eagles-Fleetwood Mac or even Boston-REO Speedwagon

I admit, I never saw Journey nostalgia coming. I still don't get it -- perhaps it's some cheese factor beyond my comprehension...

No it isn't. It's because

Journey was way bigger than Boston.

Boston had 2 albums. The second one was exactly like the first one.

Sounds like Lennon and McCartney to me other than a few songs. Some of the Beatles stuff is absolute trash.

No, and that's coming from someone who hated both of them

Boston was humongous

Journey was essentially a Boston imitator

I'd put Journey on the Foreigner level -- maybe

I bought their albums as fast as I could as a kid. They were probably my favorite band at one point. I saw it coming.

I could go back and listen to a lot of what I bought back then. Especially Queen. Not Journey.

True. For a very short time.

Looking back from now, Journey is much bigger. Even Foreigner is bigger than Boston from now looking back.
