FYI, I rank King's X above Rush. The vocals are superior. Doug's bass playing, to me, is as good as Geddy's. Obviously, Neil would be what truly separates them. But for me...my personal tastes, I go with King's X. Rush is 2nd.

I don't often put much stock in commercial numbers, but Rush is the biggest prog rock artist outside of Pink Floyd.

They have had 16 gold-certified studio LPs. Something that only a handful of artists can claim.

They are one of the most influential acts of the 20th century and are as globally recognizable as any other trio ever.

Alex Lifeson could very well be my biological father and I'm still ranking Rush behind King's X. I saw both in concert and both are extremely different. It just comes down to tastes. King's X has nowhere near the commercial success and they never will. You of all people should know the story on Anvil. They are a prime example of being one of the best and creative doesn't equate to huge wealth. King's X, had it not been for college radio, probably would never have been anything. Finally, MTV realized their worth and also anyone who went to Woodstock 1994 and didn't come away feeling satisfied after they tore opening night up are few and far between.

Rush -- 2nd place doesn't suck on my list. Moving Pictures was the first album to ever touch my soul. I absolutely think they're 100 percent brilliant.

* The rankings are all about personal tastes. In no way would I compare the success of King's X with Rush or a Triumph with a Motorhead. I still think all 4 could give each other a run for each other's money on any given night.

The Police. Pretty innovative and their songs are still around. They were huge in their day.

However, I will say Nirvana topped them. They were not as prolific but definitely more influential. They almost single-handedly and completely changed the music scene and about killed the hair bands.

Rush is one of my favorite bands but I don't think they were as influential or as popular as the police or nirvana or even ZZ Top.

I'm counting bands that started after 75 or else I would put ELP on the list. Can't dismiss 7 platinum albums.

Was not a 3-piece

Topper Hedron didn't join the band until after the 1st album. On the original UK release, they only had three members.

All hail the criminally underrated Zebra.

I'd rank 'em third or fourth. Maybe fourth with Motorhead third just to to the volume of work and influence.

Rush and The Police could trade places at the top, purely depending on which I heard last.
