But I also submit this:

Small Faces - Ogden's Nut Gone Flake

And sorry this is the only decent video version of this song I could find. The studio version sounds a lot better. One of the most underrated Beatles songs IMO:

Beatles - It's All Too Much

New Riders of the Purple Sage, Dirty Business. Particularly Jerry Garcia getting all sorts of weird and space case on the pedal steel.

Mars, your first acid trip was at what age and how did it go? Pleasant or horrifying?

Yea, I saw him open for Black Angels a couple years ago. Wasn't great but I enjoyed.

There's a band out of Ohio called electric citizen. I've never heard any contemporary psychedelic music that was worth my time until them, in case you're interested.

Here's a video

July 4, 1967, San Francisco. Took a tab of Purple Haze and never looked back.

Ironically, I'd wanted to try acid ever since I saw the propaganda movie they showed in school portraying the horrors of LSD--like imaging you were turning into a spider and shite like that. Holy frick, I thought, that's for me!

Anyway I tripped with a couple friends up on Twin Peaks, watching fireworks all over the city. It appeared to me that the city had detached itself from earth and was careening around in space, celebrating its new freedom by unleashing galaxies of blazing stars and planets (I guess those were the fireworks).

The only thing that kind of experience leaves you wanting is–more.

And so that was the first of maybe 200 acid trips. Add another 150 or so trips on mushrooms, mescaline, peyote and DMT and ... well, like Hunter S. Thompson said, you buy the ticket, you take the ride.

I miss those days.
