Gene's nickname is the human metronome. I saw him live once with Strapping Young Lad. Dude keeps perfect time and makes it look effortless. He's played with Death, Testament, Death Angel, Strapping Young Lad, Dethklok, Fear Factory and tons more big name metal bands. He's highly respected in his genre.

Truthfully, I don' think there was ever a better rock drummer than Keith Moon...

Carl Palmer was a great 'prog' rock drummer that I would take over Peart as well...

Totally agree. I got to see him live and he was special.

I am also kind of partial to Ginger Baker from my era.

I think he's world class but not greatest ever

Gene Krupa enters the thread. He was great.

Great drummers go way back. Even old timers were amazing. This should not be breaking news - drumming was probably around 200,000 years ago (obviously this is just a guess on my part)...
